That depends on your particular needs. The XMAX 125 is great if you’re doing a mix of city streets and highway riding. However, it would be too much for pure stop-and-go traffic.

The build quality and features alone make it worth it, I think. Yamaha makes reliable scooters, and the X-MAX has a more substantial feel than its cheaper counterparts. It’s an investment in longevity and comfort.

I own one, and I would say it is overkill for short trips but perfect for longer city commutes. There is a huge difference in comfort and stability with the windscreen and larger wheels.

For me, it’s worth it because of the tech features. Traction control and ABS on a 125cc scooter are pretty awesome for city conditions, varying.

I disagree with the hype. It's too expensive for what it is, and you're paying for a bunch of features you'll never use for basic commuting. You can do the job with a basic 125cc scooter for a lot less.

If you want something that can do it all, the X-MAX is great. Comfortable in the city but also capable of weekends away. The price is justified by that versatility for me.

I think it's overhyped. Yeah, it’s cool looking, but at the end of the day, it’s still a 125cc scooter. You're paying for the brand and style more than you are paying for actual performance.

For me, the bigger size of the X-MAX actually makes city riding more enjoyable. I feel safer in traffic and more visible to cars, and the added weight makes me feel more secure. The trade-off in maneuverability is worth it.
Electric scooters for eco-conscious riders: How does the X MAX 125 compare?

The X-MAX is still the better option. The pain of daily electric scooter use is limited range and long charging times. The X-MAX is pretty fuel efficient for a gas scooter anyway, plus.

Electric is the way to go. And you can charge it overnight with zero emissions at the point of use. The running costs are much lower too. The X-MAX feels outdated in comparison.

It's not just about emissions. The X-MAX is more practical for longer rides and doesn’t depend on charging infrastructure. Gas scooters still have a place until electric scooters can match that convenience.

It’s a good middle ground. While it's not as eco-friendly as bigger scooters, it's also not as limited as electric models today. It is a realistic option for most people.

The future is electric scooters, but they aren’t there yet for everyone. In the meantime, while the tech and infrastructure for electrics improve, the X-MAX is a good choice.

This is not just about the scooter; it’s about the entire lifecycle. But the battery production for electric scooters isn't exactly green. We at least know the environmental impact of the X-MAX.

Why not both? For short trips I use an electric scooter, and for longer trips or when I need more carrying capacity, my X-MAX. Best of both worlds!
Will the XSR300 be moddable as much as the original RD350?
24 January 2025 08:36
There's no chance it'll be as moddable as the RD350. All the electronics in modern bikes make them too complicated. Just looking at it funny will void the warranty.

I think that it'll be plenty moddable, just not in the same ways. Yeah, it won’t bore out easily, but there will be tons of bolt on parts and ECU tuning options.
