Can the FZ25 keep up with modern 200cc sport bikes?
Indian motorcycle enthusiasts have a lot to talk about when comparing the FZ25 with newer 200cc sport bikes. The FZ25’s 250cc engine, though larger, often leaves fans debating if it really has any performance advantage over well engineered 200cc bikes like the Apache RTR 200 4V or the Pulsar NS200. Riders talk acceleration, top speed and handling characteristics. Some 200cc bikes feel sportier where the FZ25 has a smoother more relaxed feel which is probably one of the most contrasting aspects of the bike compared to its peers. When comparing real-world performance other factors come into play such as weight, chassis design and suspension setup. From value for money and fuel efficiency, to which bike may be best to ride on certain styles of riding and in different environments, this debate rages on.
I mean, modern 200cc bikes like the Apache RTR 200 4V can match up with the FZ25 in most situations. The 50cc extra doesn't make a big difference.
Mid range punch and highway cruising are still the FZ25’s forte. The buzzier 200cc engines are more relaxed at higher speeds.
I've ridden both and the 200cc bikes actually feel more nimble and eager in city traffic. But not necessarily faster, the FZ25 is smoother.
Straight line speed isn't all of it. Because of its better stability, more relaxed ergonomics, the FZ25 is a better all-rounder for daily use and touring.
They have really closed the gap on the new 200cc bikes. These days they offer better value unless you really need that extra bit of displacement.
Refinement still wins out to the FZ25. It's not a faster bike, but it's just a more mature feeling bike.
Some 200cc sport bikes are now the way to go for pure performance. However, the FZ25 is not all about numbers. It’s the whole package.
So I switched from a 200cc to FZ25 and there was a huge difference with highway comfort. The extra capacity is really great for long rides.
That depends on the riding you do. A nippy 200cc would be better for city experience. The FZ25 still has an edge for mixed riding which includes highways.
