How does the Fazer8 compare with its siblings the FZ6 and FZ1?

by Sukhmandeep Kaurover 1 year ago0 views8 comments
Yamaha has slotted the Fazer8 in a unique position in its range, somewhere between the FZ6 and the FZ1 in terms of engine size and power. The result is many comparisons and debates on which bike is the best choice for varying types of riders. There are those that say the Fazer8 provides just the right blend of power and usability, while others believe it's unnecessary and that the rider should just pick between the FZ6 and FZ1. We often address factors such as engine character, power delivery, comfort and versatility. There’s also debate as to whether the Fazer8 was a worthy successor to the FZ6 or a marketing ploy to fill a niche that wasn’t really wanting filling.

The FZ6 is still the sweet spot for me. The Fazer8 is nice, but it’s heavier and won’t give you enough extra performance to justify the upgrade.

The Fazer8 is an FZ1 with a reduced bore. It’s the FZ1 with most of the good bits but in a more manageable package.

I think Yamaha blew it with the Fazer8. The FZ6 isn't as sporty, the FZ1 not as powerful. It's stuck in no man's land.

If you want performance, the FZ1 is king; if you want practicality, the Fazer8 is the bike. It’s a more balanced platform for most riders.

I went from a FZ6 to a Fazer 8 and it was a nice step up. Power when you need it, but still easy to ride day to day.

The engine in the Fazer8 is smoother than either the FZ6 or FZ1. It's beautiful to ride—linear power delivery that you can ride in the city and it's great for highway cruising.

I honestly think the FZ6 is the better all rounder. There's not enough of an upgrade to make the Fazer8 worth existing.

The Goldilocks bike is the Fazer8 – not too small, not too big. It has more grunt than an FZ6, but is more manageable than an FZ1.
