Is the Yamaha FZ25 really discontinued or is it just waiting for a comeback?
Confusion and speculation surrounding the Yamaha FZ25 have been rampant amongst Indian motorcycle enthusiasts. It was once a popular choice among 250cc segment riders but now recently riders kept wondering what will happen to it. Debates about whether the bike has been permanently discontinued or if Yamaha is just waiting for a major update to release it with far less fanfare have been fueled by the bike's disappearance from Yamaha's official website and its absence from showrooms. However, uncertainty on the bike’s sales performance, its compliance with new emission norms, as well as Yamaha’s strategy in the competitive Indian motorcycle market has started a conversation. There are riders who think the FZ25 is gone forever and riders who hope that one day it’ll come back with lots of improvements.

The FZ25 was always a bit underpowered for a 250, let’s face it. It will need a serious performance boost if it comes back.

I'm optimistic. However, the FZ brand still has value and so they could be reworking it from the ground up to better suit today’s market needs.

It's definitely dead. Yamaha couldn’t make the FZ25 stand out in a 250cc segment which is too crowded. If they don’t like them, they’ll stick to what works for them.

They were rumored to bring it back with a bigger engine, say 300cc, so it can compete with rivals. That'd be pretty sweet.

Could be a temporary thing. Perhaps they are just clearing old stock in order to launch a new version. Something similar was done with other models before.

Nah, it's gone. Sales of the FZ25 never really took off. Yamaha must be concentrating on their more popular models like the R15 and MT15.

I think Yamaha is just regrouping. They wouldn’t abandon the 250cc segment entirely because the FZ25 was a solid bike. They must be working on a major overhaul.

It's definitely discontinued. Yamaha took it off their website and didn't update it for BS6 phase 2 norms. They are cutting their losses and going.
