UM Renegade Duty 230 S Review

Quick Review by Maxabout Team

The UM renegade Duty 230 is the most affordable cruiser that is available on the UM lineup. While the bike may have quite a striking design, there are some other features which make the bike quite a bitter disappointment. These include the lack of a fuel injection system, the limited number of sales and service outlets of the company, an underpowered engine, the lack of the rear disc brake, and a doubtful build quality due to the lower price.

The UM Renegade Duty 230 is powered by a 223cc oil-cooled engine that produces a maximum power of 17 hp at 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 17 Nm at 5000 rpm. The compression ratio of the bike comes in at 9.25:1 and the engine is mounted on the drivetrain via a 5-speed manual gearbox. This allows the bike to have a mileage of 41 kmpl as claimed by the ARAI and a top speed of about 100 kmph.

The UM Renegade Duty 230 was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018 in India and quite a lot of features of the bike were revealed at the same time. The instrument console on the UM Renegade Duty 230 is a hybrid analogue-digital one, with an analogue speedometer and digital fuel gauge and odometer displayed in a small screen beneath the speedometer. The bike is built around a bone type chassis and the suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. The aim of the bike is to compete with the likes of the Royal Enfield Bullet 350.

Amazing style and the best performance. Definitely a head turner (why I bought it). Still running on all original parts since 6 years. Never had to spend more than Rs. 800 on a service or anything. I was caught in an accident which tilted the leg guard a bit, but the bike that crashed into me completely shattered and it's internal metal frame started showing. Only con is the battery life and service centers.

Cons: Battery Life, Service Centers.

UM Sports S review after one year use

I have completed 7278 km till now. A total of six 1-day trips and three long trips have been completed. Positive points 1- On highway, I'm getting 40km/l (on a cruiser, its great in my opinion) 2- 100% head turner in the city & on the highway. 3- Those who overtake me, they slows down & take a look at my bike due to its style. 4- Wide rear tyre gives me confidence in turns and hairpin bends. 5- 60-90kmph is the bike's sweet spot, it rides smoothly. 6- Less vibration on 5-6th gear in highway. 7- Continuous riding no problem to rider, bike, engine and no heating issue. 8- Till now, no breakdown 9- Tank capacity is 18 litres (best for touring). 10- Service cost around 1000/- (free service), 1500-2000/- (paid service). Negative points 1- Chain sound is loud in 2,3,4 gear in city conditions. 2- Mileage in city is 25km/l. 3- Engine heats up in city. 4- Quality of parts. 5- Vibration while riding in city.

Pros: Looks, Long Ride Comfort

So don't refer this product as UML giving dealership to anyone those who have money... They are not able to verify the quality of products. I am a customer of UML and felt very bad about that.

Best Features: They won't bother about anything that happens to the customer

Pros: I don't feel like getting a pros from Commando
