Bajaj Avenger Street 220 (Old)

About
The Bajaj Avenger Street 220 is a cruiser bike that stands out with its sleek design and matte black finish, drawing inspiration from Harley-Davidson styling. It features a 220cc DTS-i engine, which provides smooth and powerful performance, making it suitable for both city rides and long highway cruises. The bike is known for its comfortable riding posture and stable handling, thanks to its long wheelbase and low center of gravity. It comes with tubeless alloy wheels, a digital-analog meter, and a bright halogen headlight. While the pillion seat comfort could be improved, the bikes overall package, including its affordability and easy maintenance, makes it a popular choice among Indian riders looking for a cruiser bike.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Bajaj Avenger Street 220 is a compelling option for those seeking a cruiser bike that balances comfort, style, and performance. From my perspective, this bike excels in its smooth and effortless riding experience, making it ideal for long highway rides. The bikes stability, thanks to its long wheelbase and low center of gravity, is a significant plus, especially when navigating through busy Indian roads. However, there are some drawbacks, such as the vibration at high speeds and the less comfortable pillion seat, which might need some adjustments. Overall, its a great choice for riders looking for a powerful, yet comfortable cruiser within a budget of around 1.5 lakhs.
Price
When the Bajaj Avenger Street 220 was launched, its ex-showroom price in India was typically around 1.04 lakhs to 1.15 lakhs, depending on the region and any additional features. On-road prices, including registration, insurance, and other costs, would usually range from 1.25 lakhs to 1.35 lakhs. While prices may have varied slightly over time and across different states due to local taxes and other factors, this bike has generally remained an affordable option in the cruiser segment. The pricing makes it an attractive choice for those who want a stylish and powerful bike without breaking the bank.
Latest Updates
Friday, 15 September 2023 06:26 AM The Bajaj Avenger Street 220 made a comeback in the Indian market in September 2023 after a brief discontinuation in 2022. This move was seen as a strategic step by Bajaj to revitalize one of its oldest and most popular cruiser models. The bike retains its classic cruiser design and is priced at around Rs. 1,44,004 ex-showroom. I think this is a great move, as the Avenger has a loyal fan base in India.
Sunday, 01 March 2020 03:00 PM In 2020, the Bajaj Avenger Street 220 underwent significant updates to comply with the BS6 emission norms. This included a refined 220cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine producing 18.76bhp and 17.55Nm of torque. The bike also received a fully digital console and single-channel ABS. I believe these updates made the bike more appealing to modern riders while maintaining its classic charm.
Monday, 01 January 2018 08:28 AM The 2018 update of the Bajaj Avenger Street 220 introduced several design changes, including a new headlamp with LED DRLs and a revamped digital instrument cluster. The bike also got new graphics and colors, enhancing its visual appeal. This update helped the Avenger stay competitive in the cruiser segment.
Thursday, 01 October 2015 08:03 PM In 2015, Bajaj launched the Avenger Street 220, which marked a significant redesign of the Avenger series. This model featured a matte black paint scheme, blackened alloy wheels, and a newly designed street control handlebar. It was positioned as a cross between a cruiser and a city bike, making it versatile for urban riding.
Thursday, 01 July 2010 07:32 AM The original Bajaj Avenger 220, launched in July 2010, was known for its reliability, performance, and maintenance cost. It had an oil-cooled radiator for its engine and offered an average mileage of 35-40 km/L. The bike was popular for its cruising speed and comfort, making it a favorite among Indian riders. I think this model set the stage for the Avengers success in India.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 10:42 AM The mileage of the Bajaj Avenger Street 220 is a crucial factor for many buyers, especially in India where fuel efficiency is a significant consideration. Users have reported mileage ranging from 35 to 40 kmpl, which is decent for a 220cc engine. This makes the bike a reasonable choice for daily commuting as well as long road trips, keeping running costs manageable. However, actual mileage can vary based on riding conditions, maintenance, and driving style.

In my experience, and service engineers (k v motors, Kozhikode) direction, within 500Kms of running ,right hand gasket cover ( dh 101154) is worn out. while running how many times i change all these parts. So think twice before purchasing street 150. I complaint to their Email from my mail , No reply from their. So my humble request is to avoid Bajaj.

Best Features: Other than worn out parts

Pros: Looking, design,

Cons: Sub standard washers, cheating of dealers

Totally Actual Review About Best Cruiser Bike Under 1 Lac Budget

Version Reviewed - Avenger street 150 Purchased As - Brand new (01-01-2016) Distance Covered - 5538 Km till date (26-28-2016) Fuel Economy - 50 kmpl (Totally run in city traffic) Good - Looks, performance, handling, comfort, safety. Bad - No rear disc brake. No kick. I purchased my brand new avenger 150 street in 1st jan 2016 and till date I already clocked It around 5500 km done total running in Kanpur city Only. Exterior Aggressive front look and cool side look although rear tyre is small but decent could use a day light running lamp. Engine Performance: 14 PS power is good you can feel it when you accelerate it easily takes pick up (Not great as Apache, Gixxer) but even after you have reached triple speed figure effortless easy to drive in traffic and fun to cruise on highway. I tested the top speed of my avenger 150 twice on highway. at first it clock 112 km/hr and after second service it clocks at 115 km/hr. Fuel Economy: This is the best feature of this bike. and the only reason to submit my review also. before 1st service I got an average of around 35 kmpl in city. after 1st service mileage increased to 40-45 kmpl. But after 2nd service it reached to 55 kmpl in the hard city traffic. Guys believe me currently it giving me a healthy 55 kmpl mileage in a tight city traffic. I also tested mileage 3 times after 2nd service from reserve to reserve I take 100 rs fuel each time and my bike covered 78km, 81km, 80km on the three testing while the price of petrol in Kanpur is 65 Rs/ltr. Ride Quality & Handling: Ride Quality is very good you don't get tired even after long city driving. Handling is very good very reactive and cornering can be done with confidence. only the turning radius is too large compare to other. it creates some problem in city traffic. Final Words: Overall a very very good package for a fair price deal under the 1 lac segment.

Best Features: Look, comfort, mileage, uniqueness

Pros: Looks, ride comfort, mileage

Cons: No disc brake in rear wheel, no kick, no storage

I bought the Avenger 150 model last week. The bike as a whole is absolutely fantastic. I found the short pick-up to be a bit less, but that's not what you are looking for in this bike, & in no way that is a disadvantage. Comfort level, top notch .. balance, top notch. Also, the problem with a big turning radius owing to much wider handle-bar for the Cruise model has been largely taken care of in the Street models. In short, if you want to go for speed, you have the Pulsars .. for everything else, you have the Avengers.

Best Features: Suspension, comparatively lighter chassis, back wheel-base.

Pros: Power, comfort, balance.

Cons: Absence of kick.
