Vehicle Overview | UM Renegade Duty 230 is the first product of UM's master plan to conquer the lower segment of cruisers. It will directly rival Bullet 350 and Classic 350 in the Indian market. UM recently launched the Duty 230 S at Auto Expo 2018 for INR 1.10 lakh. This could help them bring better sales number from next fiscal. It comes with alloy wheels, fat tyres and almost everything that one needs from a cruiser. |

UM Renegade Duty 230 S Review
Overview
The UM renegade Duty 230 is the most affordable cruiser that is available on the UM lineup. While the bike may have quite a striking design, there are some other features which make the bike quite a bitter disappointment. These include the lack of a fuel injection system, the limited number of sales and service outlets of the company, an underpowered engine, the lack of the rear disc brake, and a doubtful build quality due to the lower price.
The UM Renegade Duty 230 is powered by a 223cc oil-cooled engine that produces a maximum power of 17 hp at 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 17 Nm at 5000 rpm. The compression ratio of the bike comes in at 9.25:1 and the engine is mounted on the drivetrain via a 5-speed manual gearbox. This allows the bike to have a mileage of 41 kmpl as claimed by the ARAI and a top speed of about 100 kmph.
The UM Renegade Duty 230 was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018 in India and quite a lot of features of the bike were revealed at the same time. The instrument console on the UM Renegade Duty 230 is a hybrid analogue-digital one, with an analogue speedometer and digital fuel gauge and odometer displayed in a small screen beneath the speedometer. The bike is built around a bone type chassis and the suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. The aim of the bike is to compete with the likes of the Royal Enfield Bullet 350.
