The manufacturer sold 57,004 motorcycles and scooters in India, as compared to the 56,013 units in January 2020. The Access 125 and Gixxer 155 series have been instrumental in maintaining the company’s sales figures. Suzuki Gixxer 150 Review

06 Nov, 2023 12:05 PM

Detailed Review by Maxabout Team

Introduction

The Suzuki Gixxer is one of the best-selling premium 150cc motorcycles in the Indian market. It was launched in our country in September 2014 and is based on the bigger GSX-S1000 with the addition of a dynamic and sporty style that is like its older models. Throughout the years, the Suzuki Gixxer 150 has undergone various updates, such as a fuel-injection variant launched in September 2016, offering AHO as standard in February 2017 and adding an ABS system in August 2017. Apart from that, the brand introduced the facelift model of the naked motorcycle in 2020.

Suzuki Gixxer 150 Design and Style

Gixxer comes with a sharp headlamp and a small visor upfront, enhancing its sporty look. It has a muscular fuel tank with aggressive shrouds, a stepped-up seat, a sleek tail section and a dual-port stubby exhaust muffler. The LED headlamp design is exclusive to the Indian market, which is compact and compliments the street sport look and also offers a wide field of vision. The LED tail lamp seems inspired by the original tail light design of the Suzuki Gixxer.

Suzuki Gixxer 150 Engine and Gearbox

2024 Suzuki Gixxer 150 hosts a BS6-compliant 4-stroke single-cylinder, air-cooled SOHC FI 155cc engine that produces a maximum output of 13.6 HP @ 8000 rpm and torque of 13.8 Nm @ 6000 rpm which comes with a 5-speed manual transmission wet multi-plate gearbox.

Suzuki Gixxer 150 Suspension, Brakes and Tyres

In terms of the suspension duties, New Gixxer 150 is offered with telescopic forks in the front and a swing-arm mono-shock absorber at the rear. As for the braking duties, Gixxer is installed with a 266mm single disc at the front and a 240mm single disc at the rear with 1-channel ABS (Anti-Braking System). It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with a front tyre section of 100/80-17 M/C 52P and a 140/60-R17 M/C 63P rear tyre section.

Instrument Console of the Suzuki Gixxer 150

2024 Gixxer 150 comes with the new all-digital LCD instrument console, which displays a speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, odometer, fuel gauge and ABS light. The new instrument cluster is 13mm less thick than the earlier model, which helps in handling without compromising on the information. 6 sensors aid the SEP engine; O2 sensor, Intake air pressure sensor, intake air temperature sensor, Throttle position sensor, Engine temperature sensor and Crankshaft sensor working together to provide optimised information to ECM.

Key Features of Suzuki Gixxer 150

Key Features include European Design Trend, LED Headlamp and Tail Lamp, Digital Instrument Cluster, 41mm front forks, 1-channel ABS, Sporty Dual-Muffler, SEP engine, Split seat, Rear tyre hugger and some of the comfort & convenience feature include Electric Start, Pillion Footrest, Pass Light and Step-up seat/Split seat.

Top Speed and Mileage of Suzuki Gixxer 150

New Gixxer 150 can reach the top speed of 115 kmph (speedo-indicated) and it can speed up from 0 to 100 KMPH in 15 seconds with a ground clearance of 160mm. The ARAI tested mileage for the bike is approximately 45 kmpl.

Suzuki Gixxer 150 Colour Options

Only a single variant of the latest Gixxer is on the market and we can buy it in three different colour options, namely Metallic Triton Blue, Pearl Mira Red and Glass Sparkle Black.

Suzuki Gixxer Competitors

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Hero Xtreme 160R, Yamaha FZS V3, Honda CB Hornet 160R and Bajaj Pulsar NS160 can be considered very good rivals to the 2024 Gixxer 150 in terms of performance, fuel economy and the price as well.

Verdict

2024 Suzuki Gixxer 150 is one of the leading sport premium choices in the 150cc section. With an above-average mileage of 45 kmpl, it overcomes at least 80% of the bikes in this section. Good aerodynamic design, amazing control, a powerful engine in its category, sporty riding position, vast service network and disc at both ends with single-channel ABS. Gixxer definitely seems the best option in the 150cc segment and it is economical as well. So if this is your dream bike and matches your budget, then you can just go for it.

Review after riding 33,000Kms

Am from Thrissur, Kerala... I bought my gixxer SF in 2016 from classic omega dealership... It was looking amazing in a glass sparkle black colour... I never rode a Suzuki in my whole life this was the first I only had ridden few motorcycles Yamaha fz16, pulsar 220f for a long period and both the fz and 220 performed really well.. I asked Suzuki before booking the gixxer SF for a test ride but, they always says the same reason we don't have any test bikes.. Then how will customers able to know how it feels to ride.. My home was just 20kms away from the dealership and I noticed after riding my new gixxer SF for few kilometres that the gear shifts are very hard compared to fz and sometimes it hard to shift from 2nd to 1st gear in stop and go traffic.. I didn't bother it much because it was new... And after that, I took it for a 320kms after 1st service hill station ride and noticed that the engine was not pulling up hill and I was not able to overtake the car in Infront of me whenever I was getting a chance to overtake.. Later I shared my problems with service guys and they said it must be the problem with carburettor and they cleaned the carburettor and fuel tank even then there was only a slight difference in performance.. Whenever I try to push it hard (after break-in period) the motorcycle was showing misfiring when I try to touch the 3 digit no. in the speedometer I was totally broke by my bike’s performance it was not the bike which I wanted.. Never in my life fz16 or 200 given me such kind problems.. I always check the oil level of the motorcycle before I go for the ride whether it's fz or pulsar 220 I check it and both of them never needed top up until next oil change.. But, Gixxer after riding for 500kms after the 3rd service I noticed the oil level going down slowly after every ride.. Then I saw the oil leak from the magnetic coil area and ran to the service centre and asked them to check because the bike was under warranty a

I bought it in March of last year. Since I bought it I'm enjoying the bike mileage I'm getting above 50kmpl in city as well as on highway. Overall its best in class. But I'm suffering by an issue since I bought it. I found gear shifting is too much hard since I bought it. Several times I complained about that to local Suzuki service station but no use problem is still there.if Suzuki will look after this issue I'm very much thankful.

Best Features: Power, mileage, styling.

Pros: Performance,riding quality,mileage,looks

Cons: Gear shifting very hard, built quality

Hi guys this is rahul from vizag. I made a purchase of the brand new suzuki gixxer after a long confusion between the tvs apache rtr 160.. Guess what??

Yes!! My choice was absolutely right. Im totally satisfied. Ya I agree that the gixxer may not be able to compete with the tvs apache but it can come close.. It offers a nice pick up. High torque than apache. A decent mileage of 55 kmpl(under speeds of 60 kmph). I achieved a top speed of 118 kmph after the first servicing. The engine refinement was awesome. It delivers a smoother power even when pushed hard upto the limit. The quality of the plastics were good too. Controlling and grip on the roads were upto the mark even on wet roads. The only thing I disliked was the low capacity battery. Hope they rectify this problem in their future models. I love my gixxer. Thanks and congrats to the whole team who all are involved in designing and making of this beast.
