Suzuki Gixxer SF Review

06 Nov, 2023 12:08 PM

Detailed Review by Maxabout Team

Overview

Suzuki showcased its BS6-compliant Gixxer SF at the Auto Expo held in February 2020. Later in March in the same year, the brand officially launched the 155cc fully-faired motorcycle with an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 1.22 lakhs. Currently, after getting multiple price hikes in the recent months, the bike is priced at Rs 1.45 lakhs. The all-new Gixxer SF is one of the brand’s most admired bikes which looks quite sportier and is also feature-loaded in comparison to the rest of the 150cc bikes in this price range.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 Design & Style

The updated BS6-compliant model of the Suzuki Gixxer SF remains the same as its 2019 model. It comes featured with an LED headlight and an all-digital instrument console. The headlight of the bike is inspired by the 1000cc GSX-R that is sold in the international markets. It has a crown-shaped light that looks quite astonishing and gives the sportbike a premium look. The motorcycle has an aerodynamic design which makes it distinctive and it also has a split seat setup and a clip-on handlebar. The chrome garnish on the double-barrel exhaust adds up to its style.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 Engine & Gearbox

The 2024 Suzuki Gixxer SF comes powered by a BS6-compliant 155cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, air-cooled engine that is capable of producing 13.6 HP of maximum power at 8000 rpm along with 13.8 Nm of peak torque at 6000 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. If we compare it with the BS4 counterpart there is a significant drop in the power and torque figures of the bike. The brand has updated the engine of the motorcycle to comply with the BS6-emission norms that came into effect from April 1, 2020.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 Instrument Console

The 2024 Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 instrument console is similar to the Gixxer 250. It is a fully-digital unit and has a white backlit display in comparison to a black backlit display of the 250cc version of the motorcycle. The console displays a gear position indicator, a speedometer, a tachometer, a fuel gauge, and a shift light indicator among other standard information. The switchgear of the bike is of good quality and also comprises a pass light and engine kill switch.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 Dimensions, Mileage & Top Speed

Going by the dimensions of the bike, it measures 2025 mm in length, 715 mm in width, and 1035 mm in height. It has a seat height of 795 mm along with a wheelbase of 1340 mm. The ground clearance of Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 stands at 165 mm. The kerb weight of the bike has now been increased to 148 kgs while it features a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres.Talking about the mileage for the bike, you can easily expect it to return around 45-50 kmpl of mileage. The top speed of the bike is 125 kmph which is quite good considering its segment.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 Brakes & Suspension

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 features a stiffer front telescopic suspension along with a mono-shock unit at its rear. The braking performance of the bike is handled by disc brakes at both ends. Like its BS4 model, the updated BS6 model of the bike comes equipped with a single-channel ABS unit as standard. The motorcycle is quite compact and sharp when it comes to driving as it has good handling. The suspension of the bike is really good as its high-speed stability is quite praisable.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 Colours & Graphics

The 2024 model of the bike is available in three colour options: Pearl Mira Red, Glass Sparkle Black, and Metallic Triton Blue which is also considered as MotoGP variant of the bike. Coming to graphics, there is no major change in the BS6 compliant version of the sports bike.

Verdict and Competitors of Suzuki Gixxer SF 150

The New Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 comes with brilliant handling and retains its aura with the engine upgrade. It gets a good suspension setup which does not compromise on the comfort of the rider. The engine of the bike will not feel strained if one hits above 110 kmph.

At this price point, the bike is surely a good option to consider but somehow, people are not interested in buying it and a lot of buyers usually end up spending their money on the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 or Yamaha R15 V4. Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 is a very capable product and the brand must spend more money on the marketing of the product and also make efforts in improving their after sales service by keeping the existing customers in touch.

Review after riding 33,000Kms

Am from Thrissur, Kerala... I bought my gixxer SF in 2016 from classic omega dealership... It was looking amazing in a glass sparkle black colour... I never rode a Suzuki in my whole life this was the first I only had ridden few motorcycles Yamaha fz16, pulsar 220f for a long period and both the fz and 220 performed really well.. I asked Suzuki before booking the gixxer SF for a test ride but, they always says the same reason we don't have any test bikes.. Then how will customers able to know how it feels to ride.. My home was just 20kms away from the dealership and I noticed after riding my new gixxer SF for few kilometres that the gear shifts are very hard compared to fz and sometimes it hard to shift from 2nd to 1st gear in stop and go traffic.. I didn't bother it much because it was new... And after that, I took it for a 320kms after 1st service hill station ride and noticed that the engine was not pulling up hill and I was not able to overtake the car in Infront of me whenever I was getting a chance to overtake.. Later I shared my problems with service guys and they said it must be the problem with carburettor and they cleaned the carburettor and fuel tank even then there was only a slight difference in performance.. Whenever I try to push it hard (after break-in period) the motorcycle was showing misfiring when I try to touch the 3 digit no. in the speedometer I was totally broke by my bike’s performance it was not the bike which I wanted.. Never in my life fz16 or 200 given me such kind problems.. I always check the oil level of the motorcycle before I go for the ride whether it's fz or pulsar 220 I check it and both of them never needed top up until next oil change.. But, Gixxer after riding for 500kms after the 3rd service I noticed the oil level going down slowly after every ride.. Then I saw the oil leak from the magnetic coil area and ran to the service centre and asked them to check because the bike was under warranty a

I bought it in March of last year. Since I bought it I'm enjoying the bike mileage I'm getting above 50kmpl in city as well as on highway. Overall its best in class. But I'm suffering by an issue since I bought it. I found gear shifting is too much hard since I bought it. Several times I complained about that to local Suzuki service station but no use problem is still there.if Suzuki will look after this issue I'm very much thankful.

Best Features: Power, mileage, styling.

Pros: Performance,riding quality,mileage,looks

Cons: Gear shifting very hard, built quality

I was about to buy fzs 2.0 but gixxer came into my eyes thought of taking a test ride, trust me guys this bike's ride quality was beyond to my expectations. I bought matte grey special edition. Another surprise it gave me before its 1st service i got the mileage of 56kmpl. Now i have completed 3000+ kms & i get a mileage of 59 to 61. I take a very good care of it. If any 1 wants to buy it ride it very carefully for the 1st 1600km then it will nevet disappoint you. I did a top speed recently of 129kmph. Gixxer rocks......cheers.?

karizma R got populority because of its power and torque at just 7000 and 6000rpm respectively and its design style is best suited to long travels and for tours .Many people used it as commuter is best suited to decent younsters, heros, officials for daily use as power bike with speed .it is spoiled by version many sport persons are there to raise sales .hero has to think about failure of 2.0 version and has to look at avenger stlye.why it followed yamaha.
