The On-Road Price also includes some optional things like if you opt for Genuine Accessories and Extended Warranty while buying a vehicle. Please note that the On-Road Price varies a lot across different states in India due to different percentage for the State Registration Charges. |
Yamaha R15S Review
Quick Review by Maxabout Team
India Yamaha Motor has expanded its lineup with the introduction of the new YZF R15S in our market. Instead of the split-style unit found on the YZF R15 V4.0, this new model has a single-piece step-up seat. The motorcycle is available in two colors: Racing Blue and Matte Black.
The design elements of the new R15S are largely inspired by its elder sibling, the R1. It has all-new LED headlights and an aerodynamic front cowl with an air vent up front. The large windscreen and stylish rear-view mirrors add to the sports bike's bold appearance. It also gets a new front fairing with sharp cuts and creases that blends with the muscularly designed fuel tank. The fuel tank also has knee recesses to make it easier to place your knees while riding. The black-coloured side panels add to the R15S’ style statement and look quite appealing. With a sleek LED tail light and tapered rear cowl, the tail end looks sharp and edgy. It also gets a new black tyre cover that closely fits the rear tyre. The motorcycle has a new exhaust with a faux carbon fibre finish.
An updated 155cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, SOHC engine powers the Yamaha R15S. With a 6-speed gearbox, this engine produces a max power of 18.6 HP at 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.1 Nm at 8,500 rpm. Variable Valve Action (VVA) is also included in the latest Yamaha R15S. It improves the engine's efficiency by adding flexibility to the valve train.
Yamaha claims it has a top speed of 144 km/h and a fuel economy of 40 km/l. Another difference is that the new R15S now has a slipper clutch. It improves rear wheel stability, especially during aggressive downshifting.
The delta box frame serves as the foundation for the R15S. The suspension consists of standard telescopic forks up front and a mono-shock at the rear. Yamaha has equipped the R15S with 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. The tyres are now wider than the previous version, measuring 100/80 in the front and 140/70 in the rear, with the latter being a radial. A 282mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear handle braking duties. This braking system is linked to a dual-channel ABS system. It helps the Yamaha R15S stop in a short distance even at triple-digit speeds.
The feature list on the Yamaha R15S includes a multi-function LCD instrument cluster with a gear-shift & VVA indicator. A side stand indicator with engine cut-off function, and a connector for USB charging.

How is the handling and ride quality of the Yamaha R15S?
17 April 2025 12:15The Yamaha R15S is renowned for its exceptional handling and ride quality. It features a race-bred twin spar Deltabox chassis, which provides unmatched ride quality, excellent handling, and stability. The bike's balance and predictable handling make it highly capable, especially in cornering and high-speed maneuvers. The super rigid chassis and sticky tires contribute to its agile and responsive nature, allowing the bike to tip into turns instinctively. The front and rear disc brakes also enhance safety and confidence, with the front brakes loading up nicely due to the front-biased weight distribution. However, some riders may find the seating position aggressive and uncomfortable for long periods, leading to potential back and neck pain, but this can be mitigated with proper riding posture and adjustments[5).

What should I buy between Yamaha MT 15 V2 and R15S?
17 April 2025 10:30If you are looking for a bike with better mileage and a more premium look, the Yamaha MT 15 V2 might be the better choice, offering around 56.87 kmpl and a more refined handling experience. However, if you prioritize performance and a sportier ride, the Yamaha R15S, with its 18.6 PS @ 10000 rpm power output and dual-channel ABS, could be more suitable. The MT 15 V2 is priced slightly higher at around ?1,70,086 compared to the R15S at ?1,67,559, but it also offers better comfort and a more stable ride. Ultimately, the decision depends on whether you value mileage and comfort or raw performance and a sporty feel.

Is the Yamaha R15S worth it for beginners?
17 April 2025 10:30The Yamaha R15S can be a viable option for beginners, particularly those who are enthusiastic about sports motorcycles and willing to adapt to its specific characteristics. Here are some key points to consider:
The R15S boasts a refined and smooth 149cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine, producing 16.36 BHP @ 8,500 rpm and 14.6 Nm @ 7,500 rpm, which is manageable for new riders. The Deltabox frame provides excellent stability and handling, making it forgiving and easy to maneuver, even for those with limited biking experience[3).
However, the bike's committed riding stance and forward-leaning position can be challenging for beginners, especially in city traffic. The lack of power at low revs and a slightly snatchy throttle in first gear may also require some getting used to. Despite these, the bike's linear power delivery, predictable handling, and potent braking inspire confidence and help in safely augmenting riding skills[3).
Additionally, the R15S has a user-friendly clutch and decent ride quality on typical Indian roads, which are positives for new riders. Overall, while it may not be the most versatile bike for commuting, it is an excellent choice for those who are eager to learn and enjoy the thrill of a sports motorcycle.

My Journey with R15 V3
It was the year 2018, My Bajaj Pulsar had completed 15 years, so I was looking on the net for a new bike. When I saw it for the first time, an arrow of love went across my heart, although it had some shortcomings, in spite of this, I bought it and thought whatever will happen will be seen, the only drawback was only the headlight and riding position. Today is the month of 2021 September and today I am claiming that there is no match for it. I have taken it on the hills, on the highways, and on the rough village roads, but its performance is amazing, although the riding position is so aggressive that it hurts in the back but the performance is such that this thing is forgivable, I do exercise continuously to keep me fit to ride this beast and that's why I am fit because this bike is for the youth and for long running you must be fit as youth to ride it, so today I am also fit because of it, thank you for this. Good mileage, superior performance, looks, good reliable engine make it a clear winner wherever you go. This is my journey with R15 V3.
