Vehicle Overview | Yamaha FZ-10 is something more than a naked version of the famous R1 in the company lineup. The motorcycle uses a 998cc, 4-cylinder engine producing 158 BHP at 11500 rpm and 111 Nm at 9000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and claims a top speed of 250 kmph. Unlike its race friendly cousin, FZ-10 comes with relaxed riding position and claims a weight of 210 kg. It looks futuristic with its twin headlight design and rivals Kawasaki Z1000, Honda CBR1000R, BMW S1000R and Suzuki GSX-S1000. The 17 liter fuel tank makes it lesser vulnerable to frequent refills. |

FAQs

The FZ-10’s reliability compared to the Euro competitors BMW S1000R and Aprilia Tuono?
10 January 2025 08:33They're all pretty close these days, I'd say. BMW and Aprilia have really closed the gap in terms of reliability. The real difference is that the Yamaha is usually cheaper to service.
-
Is the FZ 10 too much bike for everyday street riding or is it tame enough for an experienced rider?
10 January 2025 08:33For the street, it’s definitely overkill. Of course you can ride it everyday, but you’re never even using half of what it can do. Why not get something smaller and a bit more fun to wring out?
-
Is Yamaha FZ 10 still worth buying in 2025 or it is outdated?
10 January 2025 08:33I can tell you as a current owner, you can still have a blast riding in 2025. It’s not the newest or greatest thing out there but every time I twist the throttle it puts a smile on my face. Right? That’s what matters, right?
-
How does the FZ-10 rate when it comes to long distance touring comfort in comparison to other naked bikes?
10 January 2025 08:33I'd say that's middle of the pack. It’s better than a full on sportbike but not as comfortable as a Tracer or a BMW R1250RS. If you want something sporty but still want to be able to throw it on the back of the car for an occasional long trip, it's a good compromise.

What is the best sound and performance exhaust upgrade for the FZ 10?
10 January 2025 08:33I'm running the M4 exhaust and could not be happier. It didn't break the bank, it had great sound, and it was noticeable that it saved weight. It’s also not as common as some of the other brands, so you’ll stand out a little more.
