Is the Mahindra Xylo's lack of modern features a bad thing or a good thing for long term ownership?
30 December 2024 06:42
Since I am a fleet owner, I like the basic nature of the Xylo. It’s easy to keep up with and my drivers aren’t distracted by extraneous bells and whistles. Maybe I would want something more modern for personal use, but for business? It's perfect.
Do you get the build quality and reliability that you pay for in the XUV700?
30 December 2024 06:23
It’s hit or miss on the build quality, to be honest. My panel gaps were inconsistent and mine had some annoying rattles from day one. The price is not terrible, but not what I expected for the price.
Does the XUV700's thirstiness justify its performance?
30 December 2024 06:23
I should have got the petrol version. City traffic mileage is atrocious and I'm spending a fortune on fuel. It's good performance, but not worth the running costs.
Is this infotainment system in the XUV700 a deal breaker?
30 December 2024 06:23
So I was on the fence about buying the XUV700 because of the infotainment issues I'd heard about. I test drove it, and it wasn’t nearly as bad as people online made it out to be. It actually is quite intuitive when you get used to it.
Is the third row on the XUV700 actually usable, or just a marketing gimmick?
30 December 2024 06:23
It’s all about managing expectations, but the third row is usable. For a full time seven seater, you're better off with an MPV. It's okay for occasional use though.
Do the XUV700's ADAS features work in Indian driving conditions?
30 December 2024 06:23
I think it's a mixed bag. For example, the automatic emergency braking has saved my butt on more than one occasion from close call. Some, like lane keep assist, are pretty useless on most Indian roads, but there are others which are quite useful.
Is the Mahindra XUV500 unreliable or is it just a myth?
30 December 2024 06:10
The XUV500 isn’t Toyota level reliable, but it isn’t a disaster either. I have had mine for 4 years and yes, there have been a few issues, mostly small electrical gremlins. The core mechanicals are solid, but. It's not all about compromise, but it is all about managing expectations - you get a feature packed SUV at a competitive price, so compromises are to be expected.
Does the XUV500 offer the ride quality expected out of SUVs in the segment or not?
30 December 2024 06:10
I've driven the XUV500 pretty extensively on both city roads as well as highways and I'd say the ride is mixed bag. It’s comfortable on smooth roads and does a good job of handling highway cruising. It can be a bit unsettled on really bad patches, though. It feels a little old-school compared to newer SUVs, which I think some people will actually prefer.
Is the XUV500’s infotainment system still relevant in 2024?
30 December 2024 06:10
Fact is, nobody is buying an XUV500 in 2024 for its state of the art infotainment. It's functional but outdated. But I’ve discovered that aftermarket upgrades can make a huge difference. It’s not a million miles away from modern standards and a few mods can bring it closer without you having to break the bank.
What's the space and practicality compared to newer seven seater SUVs?
30 December 2024 06:10
The XUV500's practicality I think is starting to show its age. The newer SUVs such as the Kia Carens offer flexible seating options besides several clever storage solutions. The XUV500's third row is all right, but it isn't as comfortable or as easy to get into as some more recent designs. With the packaging feeling a little old school now, it's still spacious.
Should you buy a used XUV500 in 2024 or buy a new model from another brand?
30 December 2024 06:10
I’d say the XUV500 still has its place, having owned both a new compact SUV and a used XUV500. For the money, nothing can beat it for space and road presence. But you should expect to pay more for running costs and possibly more maintenance. If you spend a lot of time on the highway with family it's worth considering. A newer, smaller SUV may not be worth considering, mainly because it is capable of being used in the city.
Are city drivers worried about the XUV300's fuel efficiency?
27 December 2024 12:07
I don't think it's that bad, people make it out to be. Yes, it’s not as efficient as a Maruti but the power you get compensates for it. In Mumbai traffic I'm getting about 12-13 kmpl.
What is the ride quality of XUV300 on Indian roads when compared to its competitors?
27 December 2024 12:07
It’s really a matter of tire pressure. I discovered that a slightly lower pressure than the recommended level made a big difference to ride comfort with no real loss of handling.
How does the XUV300's build quality and long term reliability match up with its safety ratings?
27 December 2024 12:07
I’ve had my XUV300 for three years now and it still feels solid. Nothing major, just your regular maintenance here and there. Definitely the build quality matches the safety ratings.
Is the XUV300’s tiny boot space really a deal breaker?
27 December 2024 12:07
The boot space problem is exaggerated by people. They expect it to be a sub 4 meter SUV. If you want a huge boot, check out larger vehicles. However, the XUV300 does so well in other areas that matter more in your daily use.
But does the XUV300's limited interior design hoodwink its performance and safety features?
27 December 2024 12:07
The interior is a real letdown as it's all outdated. I had test driven the XUV300 and loved how it performed but there was something about that old school dashboard that I just couldn’t get over. I ended up buying a Venue.
Now let’s get to the point – is the Mahindra XUV 3XO’s seat comfort really a deal breaker?
27 December 2024 11:52
I believe it depends on the body type. The seats are uncomfortable after an hour for me, but my wife loves them.
Is the XUV 3XO’s ADAS features worth its price premium over competitors?
27 December 2024 11:52
It is an overkill for Indian roads. The best advice is to save your money and go for a cheaper variant without ADAS.
How laggy is the XUV 3XO’s infotainment system, compared to its predecessor?
27 December 2024 11:52
Mahindra has done some work and it's improved, but there's still work to do. Crossing my fingers for some software updates to make it right.
Where does the XUV 3XO stand in terms of build quality when compared to its rivals?
27 December 2024 11:52
During the test drive I was impressed. It seems to be able to take a beating and keep on truckin’.
