Are city drivers worried about the XUV300's fuel efficiency?

For a lot of car buyers, fuel efficiency is a big selling point, particularly if you mostly drive in congested city conditions. While the Mahindra XUV300 is getting the applause sound in terms of performance and features, it has got the opposite response in case of fuel economy that too, in the city. According to some users, they have trouble achieving double digit fuel efficiency when driving in heavy traffic, a concern as fuel prices rise. Now, this raises questions about whether the XUV300 is a suitable daily driver in busy cities. How close is its real world fuel efficiency to what it claims? Is there anything we can be doing to make it more efficient, driving techniques, maintenance tips? Is it worth the trade off of performance for fuel economy for city dwellers? Now, lets go through how the XUV300’s fuel consumption affects what type of user and is it a determining factor in the general ownership experience?

In city traffic, it’s pretty bad on fuel efficiency. I'm getting 9–10 kmpl in Bangalore. Honestly, it’s starting to hurt my wallet.

I don't think it's that bad, people make it out to be. Yes, it’s not as efficient as a Maruti but the power you get compensates for it. In Mumbai traffic I'm getting about 12-13 kmpl.

It is definitely a concern relative to fuel efficiency. Everything else about the car is great, but in the city the running costs are too high, so I am thinking about selling.

People need to understand that you can't have power and great fuel efficiency in this segment. Since the XUV300 was tuned for performance, the fuel economy hit is expected.

The city driving I have found Eco mode has a lot to help. It takes a bit of fun out of it, but I'm seeing much better mileage now.

It's not a great fuel efficiency, but it's not a deal breaker for me. There are safety features and the build quality, which take up an extra fuel cost.

It's all about driving style. By avoiding harsh acceleration and keeping speeds steady where possible I've been able to get decent efficiency.
