With Global NCAP crash test results of a full 5 stars, the Mahindra XUV300 has been making headlines for its safety ratings. It has made it one of the safest cars in its segment. While safety ratings don’t always paint the full picture of build quality and long term reliability. As their vehicles age, some users have reported minor rattles, electronics and other niggles. These questions arise about how well the XUV300 holds up over time as compared to its competitors. How strong are Mahindra’s high safety ratings, do they reflect overall build quality, or are there areas where they need to lift their game? What are the effects of the after sales service experience on the perception of reliability of the car by owners? We will take a look into real life experience of long term XUV300 owners and see if the initial promise of safety and quality still holds up after years of driving on Indian roads and usage.

I’ve had my XUV300 for three years now and it still feels solid. Nothing major, just your regular maintenance here and there. Definitely the build quality matches the safety ratings.

They have good safety features, but had some annoying electrical issues. It’s nothing major, but I’m not sure how long term reliable it will be.

The build quality is good and Mahindra’s service centers are hit or miss. If you can't get proper service, good build quality doesn't mean a thing.

After about 30,000 km I've noticed the development of some rattles. That's disappointing because the car felt so solid when new.

The XUV300 feels like a tank coming from a Maruti. Ok, there are some minor issues but it just feels much more robust than it's competitors.

For a car its structure seems to be solid, but some interior materials are cheap and have started to wear quickly. Quality wise it’s a mixed bag.

I believe that people expect too much. Still, it's an affordable Indian car. For the price point build quality and reliability are good and you get so many safety features.
