Is the absence of modern safety features on the Maruti Tour H2 a deal breaker for responsible fleet operators?
30 December 2024 09:02
I disagree. All legal safety requirements are met by the Tour H2. Nice as these advanced features are, they come with a price. This means that smaller operators can afford newer, inherently safer vehicles than the older ones that they might otherwise use.
Are taxi fleets the only people who will use the Maruti Tour H2, which is essentially a rebadged WagonR?
30 December 2024 09:02
I disagree. It's based on the WagonR, but to label it as just a rebadge does not do justice to the changes Maruti has made. That means they probably rebuilt the suspension to be even more rugged, modified the engine to last longer, and maybe even used different interior material to take the abuse.
Is the Maruti Tour H2's CNG option a game changer for eco friendly taxi fleets?
30 December 2024 09:02
I'm not so sure. CNG is cleaner than petrol but it is still a fossil fuel. Instead of investing in another temporary solution, we should be pushing for full electrification. In fact, the Tour H2 CNG could even slow down EV adoption in the taxi sector.
Is the Tour H2's no frills interior a smart move or a missed opportunity?
30 December 2024 09:02
It's definitely a smart move. The simplicity is something as a taxi driver I appreciate. It's easy to clean, less to break, and less costly. After all, passengers aren’t expecting luxury in a budget taxi.
What does the Tour H1's 'taxi image' mean for its appeal, and could it ever become a cult classic?
30 December 2024 08:19
Being someone who likes engineering simplicity, I actually find the Tour H1 quite interesting. It’s automotive minimalism on a case study level. That said, I could even see it having a niche audience of enthusiasts that enjoy that sort of thing.
The Maruti Tour H1: Is it really just a stripped down Alto for taxi drivers or does it have some hidden gems?
30 December 2024 08:19
I've driven both the regular Alto and the Tour H1 and to be honest, the differences aren't that much different from those that people make it out to be. Of course, you lose some bells and whistles, but the heart and soul of what makes the Alto great is still there. I kinda dig the Tour H1 feeling more purpose built.
What impact does the Tour H1’s speed limiter have on real world driving and is it really making our roads safer?
30 December 2024 08:19
You're all forgetting how easy it is to bypass these limiters. It's something any halfway decent mechanic can disable in minutes. Now you have a false sense of security and drivers who might try even harder because they think they are 'safe' with the limiter.
Has the Tour H1's stripped down design made it more reliable and easier to maintain than the regular Alto?
30 December 2024 08:19
As a fleet operator, I can say that while the Tour H1’s simplicity does mean lower maintenance costs overall. However, it's not just a question of design, but also the use of the vehicle. Commercial vehicles take a beating and anything we can do to reduce the complexity is a win in my book.
Is it possible that the Tour H1 might represent a smart choice for budgetconscious private buyers as well as taxi operators?
30 December 2024 08:19
I think the Tour H1 might have its niche in the DIY crowd. Buy it cheap and slowly upgrade it with aftermarket parts as you like. With that said, you could actually end up with a pretty unique, personalized ride for less than a higher end model would cost.
Is the Swift's safety now sufficient to match its rivals?
30 December 2024 08:09
Maruti has done enough to meet most buyers, I believe. Alright, let's be real, if you’re looking for tank like safety, you’re not shopping in this segment anyway.
Is the Swift the best first car for new drivers in India?
30 December 2024 08:09
We can’t forget that there are automatic variants. Even for new drivers in heavy traffic, the Swift AMT is still one of the cheapest and most reliable options.
Is the new Swift's 3 cylinder engine a step backward or forward?
30 December 2024 08:09
It’s not an upgrade, it’s not a downgrade; it’s just a different approach. Maruti do know what they are doing. If they went for a 3 cylinder, it must be good enough for their standards.
Is the new Swift still charmingly iconic?
30 December 2024 08:09
It wasn’t about the looks, it was about an iconic charm in the driving experience. I'm all for the new design, if it still drives like a Swift.
Is the Swift still the king of value for money in its segment?
30 December 2024 08:09
Absolutely it is! When you buy a Maruti, you don’t just buy a car, you buy into the Maruti ecosystem. Cheap maintenance, wide service network, great resale value, that is real value for money.
The high seating position of the S-Presso is it really a benefit or another gimmick?
30 December 2024 08:02
For city driving it’s definitely a benefit. Higher seating means you get a better view of traffic in front of you, which is very useful when you’re in a congested area.
Does the S-Presso’s unique design help it stand out or just look awkward?
30 December 2024 08:02
From some angles it's awkward, but from the front view it's pretty cool. Unlike most budget cars, it's got character.
Is the 1-star S-Presso’s GNCAP rating a deal breaker for safety conscious buyers?
30 December 2024 08:02
But remember, it’s an entry level car, it’s concerning. For the price point, you can't expect luxury car safety.
Is the S-Presso really a 'mini SUV' or just clever marketing?
30 December 2024 08:02
Clever marketing, however, it is misleading. It gives the wrong expectations to the buyer who might believe they are getting more than they are.
Do the S-Presso's other shortcomings are made up for by its fuel efficiency?
30 December 2024 08:02
It is a huge plus for the fuel efficiency for a second car predominantly used for city errand. It's all about context.
How reliable is the Super Carry under heavy daily use?
30 December 2024 07:57
It appears that the CNG version has fewer issues in the long haul. Maybe it's worth the extra initial cost.
