Is the Swift's safety now sufficient to match its rivals?
Safety is an increasingly important factor in buying a car in India and that has forced manufacturers to focus on improving safety features and build quality of their vehicles. Although popular, the Maruti Swift has come under fire in the past, for its safety ratings and build quality. The Swift has been updated in recent times with more safety features, but there is still debate about whether these improvements are enough to match, or surpass, the safety standards of some of their competitors. This discussion frequently includes comparing crash test results, studying the types and number of safety features standard on the vehicle, and debating the vehicle's overall structural integrity. It also touches on a larger question of how much Indian consumers care about safety among other things, such as fuel efficiency or brand loyalty, when making their purchases.
Not even close. It will always lag behind in safety until they fundamentally change the platform.
It's definitely improved. This is a big step for six airbags as standard. It's not a tank, sure, but mostly safe.
Airbags are not all there is to safety. The Swift is still light, which poses a problem in crashes with bigger cars.
Maruti has done enough to meet most buyers, I believe. Alright, let's be real, if you’re looking for tank like safety, you’re not shopping in this segment anyway.
It's safer than it used to be, but not class leading. But it's probably "safe enough" for its intended audience.
The improvements are good but it’s just reactive improvement instead of proactive. For Maruti to lead in safety, not just follow.
Until we see new crash test results, we shouldn't be judging. The crumpled metal is the proof in the pudding of it.
