The S-Cross was left stranded in no man's land, not an SUV enough for SUV buyers, too expensive for hatchback upgraders.

Maruti didn't evolve it to keep up with changing market trends, I'd say it was right for its time.

Ahead by some parameters (safety, refinement), behind in others (no option to petrol at first, a conservative appearance).

The Brezza had to run, so the S-Cross walked. Maruti was able to understand the premium crossover segment better.
Is the S Cross a premium NEXA experience or that of a Maruti overpriced?

A glorified Maruti with some extra chrome slapped on is all it is. It is the same cheap plastics and rattly build quality like any other Maruti.
Is the S Cross a premium NEXA experience or that of a Maruti overpriced?

The S-Cross actually had pretty good build quality and refinement for its segment, I don't agree. The 1.6 diesel was a gem of an engine.
Is the S Cross a premium NEXA experience or that of a Maruti overpriced?

It's a mixed bag. The interior quality was definitely a step up from Arena models, but not really premium. The robust chassis and safety were the real value.
Is the S Cross a premium NEXA experience or that of a Maruti overpriced?

It does look and feel more premium than regular Marutis though, and I say this coming from someone who owns an S Cross, it just feels more premium in terms of NVH levels and ride quality. It's not luxury car territory, though.
Is the S Cross a premium NEXA experience or that of a Maruti overpriced?
31 December 2024 09:20
The product itself was not the premium, it was in the buying and service experience. The NEXA dealerships are definitely a notch above the regular Maruti dealerships.

31 December 2024 09:20
Face it, this was Maruti's first attempt at 'premium' and that was clear. Subsequently, later NEXA products such as Baleno and Ignis came across as more cohesively upmarket.
Is the S Cross a premium NEXA experience or that of a Maruti overpriced?

Performance wise, the 1.6 diesel variant was truly premium. Maruti chickened out and watered down the lineup with weaker engines later.
What will be the Maruti NEXA Jimny EV’s weight distribution and center of gravity versus the petrol version and how will that affect its off road performance?

The battery pack will also help to make it even more stable on side slopes due to the lower center of gravity. It's a win for off-roading!

That extra weight is going to make it sink in mud and sand. Key to the petrol version's off road prowess is its lightweight nature.

They could have evenly distributed the batteries for perfect 50/50 weight distribution. On technical trails how balanced would that be!

Any weight gain will be more than made up for with the instant torque from the electric motors. It’ll get itself out of anything.

Water crossings are a worry. It doesn't sound great for deep water all that electrical stuff under the floor.

There are even some cases where the extra weight would actually help out with traction. Not always bad, more weight pressing down on the tires.

They should have an option for removable battery. For hardcore off roading, take out some cells, for longer trips put them all in.
Can the Maruti NEXA Jimny EV really be an off-roader, or is it just another city SUV in disguise?
31 December 2024 09:14
But still, it’s a Jimny at heart! With electric motor instant torque it'll be a beast on steep inclines. And you won’t have to worry about stalling in tricky situations anymore.

Are you kidding? An EV for off-roading? How do you find juice when you're in the middle of nowhere? With petrol, at least you can carry a jerry can.
