TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Review
Overview
Marking two decades of the TVS Apache brand, the 2025 Apache RTR 200 4V arrives as a celebration of performance, innovation, and practicality. This latest iteration is more than just a commuter motorcycle; it is a testament to TVS’s racing DNA, now refined for the modern rider. With a host of new updates across hardware, safety, and style, the Apache RTR 200 4V stands out as a premium choice for those who seek excitement without sacrificing everyday usability.
Engine and Performance: Power Meets Compliance
Under the hood, the 2025 Apache RTR 200 4V is powered by a 197.75cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, four-valve engine. This powerplant is engineered to meet the latest BS6-2.0 and OBD-2B emission standards, ensuring it remains environmentally friendly while delivering strong performance. The engine produces 20.8 PS at 9,000 rpm and 17.25 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm, paired with a smooth 5-speed gearbox and a race-tuned slipper clutch that ensures seamless gear changes.
Despite the stricter emission norms, the bike maintains its lively character, offering punchy acceleration and a responsive throttle. The inclusion of three ride modes—Urban, Sport, and Rain—allows riders to tailor the bike’s behavior to different conditions. These modes adjust throttle response and ABS intervention, making the Apache RTR 200 4V adaptable for city commutes, spirited rides, and wet weather. Dual-channel ABS with Rear Lift-off Protection further enhances safety, providing confident braking even during emergency stops.
Chassis and Suspension: Precision and Agility
One of the most significant upgrades for the 2025 model is the introduction of 37mm golden upside-down (USD) front forks, replacing the previous telescopic units. This change, combined with a new hydroformed handlebar, delivers improved front-end feedback, stability, and cornering precision. The rear suspension features a gas-charged monoshock with adjustable preload, ensuring a balanced and comfortable ride across various road surfaces.
With a kerb weight of 152 kg and a ground clearance of 180 mm, the Apache RTR 200 4V is well-suited for Indian roads. Its agile handling and quick direction changes make it a favorite among riders who value maneuverability and confidence, whether navigating busy city streets or enjoying twisty backroads.
Design and Styling: Bold and Contemporary
The 2025 Apache RTR 200 4V receives a fresh look with three new color options: Glossy Black, Matte Black, and Granite Grey. Each color scheme features updated graphics on the fuel tank and underbelly cowl, giving the bike a modern and dynamic appearance. Red alloy wheels add a sporty touch, while the aggressive bodywork and split seat design reinforce its streetfighter identity.
LED lighting is standard across the board, including headlamps with DRLs, tail lamps, and turn indicators. These not only enhance visibility but also contribute to the bike’s contemporary aesthetic.
Features and Technology: Connectivity and Safety at the Forefront
The fully digital instrument cluster is a highlight, offering Bluetooth connectivity via TVS SmartXonnect. This system enables voice commands, turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, and even race telemetry for enthusiasts who want to analyze their riding style. Adjustable brake and clutch levers, a pass light, hazard indicators, and a split seat setup add to rider comfort and convenience.
The bike also features Glide Through Technology (GTT), which makes low-speed riding effortless, and maintains OBD-2B compliance for real-time emission monitoring and diagnostics. These features ensure the Apache RTR 200 4V remains future-ready and user-friendly.
Fuel Efficiency and Practicality: Balancing Performance and Economy
With a 12-liter fuel tank and a claimed mileage of 37 kmpl, the Apache RTR 200 4V strikes an excellent balance between performance and efficiency. Its ergonomic design, including a split seat and passenger footrest, makes it practical for daily commuting and occasional touring. Whether you’re riding solo or with a pillion, the bike offers a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Safety and Braking: Confidence on Every Ride
Safety is a top priority for the 2025 Apache RTR 200 4V. Dual-channel ABS, disc brakes on both wheels, and Rear Lift-off Protection ensure reliable stopping power, even in challenging conditions. These features give riders peace of mind, whether they’re navigating city traffic or exploring open roads.
Pricing and Value Proposition: Premium Features at an Attractive Price
Priced at ₹1,53,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the 2025 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V offers exceptional value. For this price, riders get a feature-rich, performance-oriented motorcycle with advanced hardware, segment-first ride modes, and a strong legacy of reliability. The modest price hike over the previous model is justified by the host of new upgrades and enhancements.
Pros and Cons: A Balanced Assessment
Advantages:
- Responsive 200cc engine with strong mid-range torque
- Upgraded 37mm golden USD forks for superior handling
- Dual-channel ABS and multiple ride modes for enhanced safety and versatility
- Advanced connectivity and safety features for a modern riding experience
Drawbacks:
- Lacks a 6-speed gearbox, which some competitors offer
- Slightly less power compared to certain rivals in the segment

Conclusion: A Standout in the Premium Commuter Segment
The 2025 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V successfully blends racing pedigree with everyday practicality. Its improved handling, modern technology, and safety enhancements make it a standout choice in the premium commuter segment. Whether you’re a city commuter or a weekend enthusiast, the Apache RTR 200 4V delivers a compelling package that is hard to beat for its price, heritage, and overall riding experience. I need to know the economy speed of Apache 200
It sounds impressive and I need to buy one. It takes good enough time for 100 kmph but what about the economy speed?

TVS Apache RTR 180 is a beast
It has the required grunt in its engine. The RTR name is perfect for the bike. The best street fighter ever.
Best Features: Design, perfect for city
Pros: Exhaust sound, throttle response
Cons: Top speed is lower than others
Stylish and Good Performer
Style: It's a beautifully crafted beast, when you just sit on the bike you feel like you are in a Race. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: It's loaded with 160CC powerful RTR engine that you can really feel it. And fuel economy is good! I have just done with 2nd service (today) and so far I have got 60kmpl riding around 55km/hr and had never crossed 60km/hr.. but today I was really exited and happy to ride my beast at its best, I really enjoyed the pickup, speed, thrill.... coming to gearbox it lags (some times), it is smooth while the up shifts and stuck while down shifts and have to slow down the bike for down shifts but this is a common problem in all bike range. Ride Quality & Handling: Ride quality and Handling is extremely good.. but rear tyre slips when you brake, you might have to use good quality tyres. Areas of improvement: Riding comfort as riders get back ache, tyres, gearbox
Best Features: RTR, dashboard has many options, etc
Pros: Good performance, stylish, fuel economy, ride quality
Cons: Comfort, gearbox

Why the heck on earth do you guys cry for power when u cant afford petrol more than 50 rs...go buy tvs moped...
Guys please help to choose a bike.. should i go for tvs apache 200 or honda hornet.. totally confuse..Advice needed..This gonna be my first bike so please suggest me..
Apache 2004v
Bike looks like beast on the road. I purchased 200 on 23 june 2016. When i'm going on road the performance of the bike is too good and feels like racing on the race track. The looks of the bike is more awesome and totally sports. No one recognize which bike is this. After sometime they can recognize its "APACHE". The splitted seat is gives more sporty look to the bike. The seating of the bike is much better and while going with girls its too amazing experience while riding the bike. Engine is more powerful and pick up awesome easily getting 0-60 in 4 secs. The better option in speedometer its showing on which gear you are riding, clock, Trips , High Speed, Lap timer. Finally the Racing DNA has improved. For the youth this beast is more advantage to go on roads.
Still waiting for EFI ABS Pirelli version, no news on booking & availability till now. Booking only on for Basic version. Really SAD on TVS to keep clients waiting...
5 reasons to buy Tvs Apache Rtr 200 anyone ?
guys firstly This bike is sole effort of TVS . BMW plays no part in it .
Next DONT go for paper specs, its just to give an approximate idea and final end power figure
You cant say which bike is better just by comparing their spec sheet
RTR 200 Is on par with its competitors ( duke & ns ) they have advantage over topend power but that doesnt mean they are better
u can see the track test
What about new pulsar 150ns lauched in mid 2016 ? It has same power and torque..pulsar 135 and pulsar 200ns both are bike of year ..
now fz ,pulsar,cb hornet (honda thinks buyers are fools buyers think honda is intelligent) ,gixxer all have become obsolete now....cos of apache 200v.
just doesn't interest wait for the bmw tvs310.that sounds more performance oriented.
Tvs 220 4v=22oF v-220F F for four also five but five is not there in cricket only six 6 or four 4
Hi as all do the same mistake what this bajaj brain washed very one with their bikes and specs and specs are high then it's a good bike it's entirely worng it's not about power it's about the power how it deliverers and the torque how it comes in life early and goes..just don't go by power figs.come on bro all these years we all spent on different bikes and experienced that's not what we learnt I think.. let's be pro style bro?
It is very sad that hero has no plans to remodel karizma r for 2016.perhaps hero over expectaion to design karizma new version caused the karizma r to fail.I sam the video .he fall to front when the ship they designed the kr like to fall front always when is only over expectation of hero.
looking ahead for honda hornet 250 and 225cc with 40/31 bhp with same body or karizma r old style of hero honda may be H X h for hero x for honda
Hornet 250cc 40bhp
I have 1.2lk till feb first week if company ready to give abs model with efi and perilli tyres .i cant wait
TVS Apache RTR 200 4V
The engine was expected to have a killing performance with around 25 BHP
and 22 NM of torque whereas the actual figures reveal a different story.
I was decided it in my plan after seeng reports on engine sound and vibrations but now that was erased.
so what about drakeon 250 with 38.5hp?
Oil Cooled! 5-speed! 20.23 BHP! ABS model priced @ Rs. 1.15 lakh!! Not Happy :-(
draken concept was displayed with massive 30 odd bhp now we got an under powered motor compared to its rivals!
karizma r is best than above three because it produces 19.35 torque at just 6000rpm when compare to ktm which produces 19.2 torque at 8000rpm.
we have no strength to pull the wire for long times to travel above 200kms.
Which one should I buy: TVS Apache RTR 200 or Bajaj Pulsar AS200?
Draken inspired good design but what will a 20 BHP engine perform in front of the Pulsar 200 NS and others of the 200 cc segment. Disappointing power figures by TVS, should not bring anything above this in the Apache series and present something new with loads of power for the bikers.
Come late in market plus lack of horsepower, torque, upside down forks missing, front disk also not seems good with just 270mm
Wtf is happening with tvs??? 200 cc engine with just 18 nm torque and 20bhp of power? Lol... n dat too with 5 gears..?? Please take some time n launch something that makes some sense. Its the time evryone are upgrading including the bajaj and you are somewhere far beyond. I pity u..
Sorry TVS...just wanna say RIP for your efforts towards 200cc apache...Still RTR180 gonna rulE.
Wtf? How on earth do TVS engineers manage to get just 20hp from 200cc engine in the year 2016? Maybe is low power high torque........ . but then it makes just 18Nm. Is the engine running on coal and steam? And then there's carburettor and 5 speed gearbox. Retro styling with modern engine/electronics is trending in the motorcycle world and then TVS took the exact opposite approach. Fail.
Is it a joke?? lol 5 speed and 130 top speed...just gonna flop as expected :(
hero and honda (X)will be at back seat in 200cc segment
Where is SIXTHGEAR AND WHY TVS TIRES disappointed...hope they work on this area
Wow! Finally, TVS is going to launch Apache 200 on January 20!! The wait is over :-)
karizma r will hit back if hero will bring up facelift down bike to normal level of 1. version .
please inform me when it launched, also has quest whether buy this or RS200
This the time of breakdown of all foreign (firangi) companies.... Bcoz tvs & bajaj would be no 1 in world...
