TVS Motor Company today launched the 2019 TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 in India. The new bike is the ethanol-powered variant of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and is priced at INR 1.20 lakh, which means that it costs INR 9,000 over its petrol-driven cousin.
The TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 is equipped with ethanol bio-fuel, which is domestically produced from plants like sugarcane. This fuel reduces nitrogen oxide emissions, carbon monoxide emissions, and particulate matter, making it a more environmentally friendly option. The bike also boasts a higher power output compared to its petrol-powered counterpart. I believe this technology could be a game-changer in the Indian market if ethanol fueling infrastructure improves.
The TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 retains the same design as the standard Apache RTR 200 4V but features distinctive green graphics and an ‘Ethanol’ logo. This special edition is designed to highlight its eco-friendly credentials. I believe the design is a nice touch, making the bike stand out while promoting its green features.
During the launch, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari emphasized the need for ethanol fueling stations, promising that his ministry would work towards establishing these.
