Bajaj Dominar 200
General information and overview
The Bajaj Dominar 200 is a cruiser bike that inherits many of its features from the Dominar 400 but with a smaller and lighter 200cc engine. This engine, shared with the Pulsar RS 200, is tuned to deliver more torque at lower RPMs, making it ideal for cruising. The bike boasts a sturdy build with dimensions of 2,156mm in length, 813mm in width, and 1,112mm in height, along with a ground clearance of 157mm. It weighs 160 kg and has a top speed of around 130 kmhr. The Dominar 200 features a six-speed transmission, single-channel ABS, disc brakes at both ends, and a digital instrument cluster. The suspension setup includes telescopic forks at the front and a Nitrox monoshock at the rear, ensuring a smooth ride. Overall, the Dominar 200 is designed for comfort and reliability, making it a great option for both city rides and long tours.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Bajaj Dominar 200 is a compelling option for those seeking a balance of power, comfort, and affordability in the 200cc segment. This bike stands out with its sturdy build and impressive road presence, making it a head-turner on Indian roads. The engine, though smaller than its 400cc counterpart, is tuned for more torque at lower RPMs, which enhances its cruising capabilities. The single-channel ABS and the same suspension setup as the higher models ensure good handling and ride quality. However, the absence of dual-channel ABS and LED headlamps might be a slight drawback for some. Overall, the Dominar 200 offers a great blend of performance, comfort, and value for money, making it a strong contender in its class.
Recent news and announcements
Bajaj is expected to launch the Dominar 200 in the Indian market, aiming to capitalize on the growing popularity of the Dominar brand. This new bike will be priced lower than the Dominar 400, making it more attractive to new buyers. The Dominar 200 will share its engine with the Pulsar RS 200 but will be tuned for more torque at lower RPMs. I think this strategy could make the Dominar 200 a strong contender in the touring bike segment.
The Bajaj Dominar 200 is likely to feature a 200cc engine derived from KTM, similar to how the 373cc engine of the Dominar 400 is shared with the Duke 390. This engine will be mated to a six-speed transmission and is expected to offer better fuel efficiency than the Dominar 400. The bikes overall weight is also expected to be reduced.
Bajaj is planning to introduce the Dominar 200 with an all-new blue color option, which could help differentiate it from the Dominar 400. The current Dominar 400 is available in only two colors, so this new color scheme might attract more attention. I believe this color option will be a hit among younger buyers.
The Bajaj Dominar 200 is speculated to have a city mileage of around 35 km/l and a highway mileage of about 40 km/l, making it more fuel-efficient than the Dominar 400. However, it will be less efficient than the Pulsar RS 200 due to its higher torque and weight.
Bajaj has been considering expanding its Dominar brand with multiple models to increase visibility and market presence. The Dominar 200 is seen as a key step in this strategy, targeting buyers who want a touring bike with a smaller engine. I think this move will help Bajaj tap into a broader customer base.
Pricing details and changes
The Bajaj Dominar 200 is priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price is around 1.72 lac, which is quite attractive given the features and performance it offers. On-road prices, including taxes and other charges, can vary by state but generally fall in the range of 1.90 to 2.00 lac. This pricing makes the Dominar 200 an accessible option for those looking to upgrade from lower cc bikes or enter the 200cc segment without breaking the bank. The value for money is enhanced by its reliable design, good looks, and comfortable riding experience.
Fuel efficiency information
When it comes to mileage, the Bajaj Dominar 200 is quite efficient. It offers a city mileage of around 35 kml, highway mileage of about 40 kml, and an overall mileage of approximately 37 kml. This makes it a practical choice for daily commuting as well as long rides. The higher torque and lighter engine contribute to its fuel efficiency, although it might not match the mileage of some other 200cc bikes like the Pulsar RS 200. Nonetheless, the Dominar 200s mileage is satisfactory and helps in keeping running costs manageable.

- Vehicle Overview
- Bajaj Pulsar CS200 is currently under the state of confusion as the bigger product from its lineup, CS400 has been named Dominar 400 by the company. If seen the same way, the CS200 will soon change to Dominar 200 and the motorcycle will carry the same 199.5 cc engine from the 200 Duke. Not just that, it will also get a reduced power output in order to suit the cruiser character of the motorcycle. The currently used engine on Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is good for 24.2 BHP at 9750 rpm and 18.6 Nm at 8000 rpm. As of now, there is no news about Dominar 200 anywhere in the Indian automobile market.

Expert Verdict
Professional reviews and expert opinions on Bajaj Dominar 200
Bajaj has been one of the most active brands in the motorcycle industry, launching products at a fast pace. One Pulsar gets launched and one is planned for the future. This Pulsar mania has divided the categories of Pulsar's clearly and every rider has plenty of options according to his need. The talk has gone pretty far this time, with the rumours of a cruiser sport motorcycle with 200 cc displacement. Named as the CS 200, the bike is said to be a bit different from the CS 400.
It is expected to be launched in India by March-April 2016.
With an all new design language, the new Pulsar CS200 is said to be a cruiser bike and finally, we will get a Pulsar with a lower seat height. The body seems to be lean and very well designed. The first look at the motorcycle defines its nature, it’s all new front headlight looks appealing and its bold front USD shocks adds to its aggressiveness. The totally new alloy wheels would make it a head turner for sure.
Pulsar CS 200 is expected with the same engine as other Pulsars, making it a nice sprinter. The weight seems to be on the lower end, making it a much preferable bike for aggressive riding. The 199.5 cc engine is expected to produce 24.2 BHP and 18.6 NM, with some possible tuning from Bajaj. Triple spark technology would be used on this motorcycle, along with fuel injection and liquid cooling. The 6-speed gearbox will remain the same as other 200 cc Pulsars.
The motorcycle is expected with a 300 mm butterfly disc brake for the front and 230 mm for the rear. The suspension at the back remains the monoshock with piggy back canister whereas the front gets an all new USD suspension, with a bold appeal added to it. The 17 inch tyre set will remain the same as that of Pulsar RS200.
The Pulsar CS200 is expected in a non-ABS and ABS variant, with an expected price tag of INR 1,05,000 for the non-abs model. The shades would most probably be the same as that of Pulsar AS200, with a sticker free approach.
