General information and overview

The Triumph Daytona 765 stands out with its 765cc liquid-cooled inline-triple engine delivering 130 PS at 12,000rpm and 80 Nm torque, channeled through a slick quickshifter-equipped gearbox for seamless shifts. Weighing just 165kg dry, its agile chassis with fully adjustable Showa suspension shines on India's ghat sections and urban chaos, offering plush comfort over potholes via low-set pegs and a padded seat. Key highlights include ride-by-wire throttle with Road, Rain, and Sport modes, switchable ABS, traction control, and Moto2 styling cues like carbon accents for track appeal. Braking via radial Brembos provides confident stops, while the smooth fuelling tames city crawls without vibes. In India, it's tailored for enthusiasts seeking supersport thrills minus full aggression, with strong pickup from low revs ideal for overtakes. Service intervals at 10,000km keep costs in check, and its 56mpg US efficiency translates well here. For buying, it balances track prowess and road manners exceptionally, making it my go-to for pure riding joy.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I find the Triumph Daytona 765 to be a razor-sharp supersport that reignites my passion for track-focused riding while delivering surprising road usability in India. Its 765cc triple engine pumps out 130 PS and 80 Nm, offering explosive power delivery that's perfect for blasting through highways or carving corners on twisty ghat roads, with smooth throttle response even in city traffic. The fully adjustable suspension soaks up potholes effortlessly, making it forgiving on our bumpy streets despite its Moto2-inspired aggression, and the lightweight 165kg dry frame makes it nimble for quick direction changes. Braking is stellar with superb bite, though the ABS can feel intrusive during hard stops without IMU finesse. At around 56 mpg in mixed conditions, it's not a fuel sipper but manageable for enthusiasts. For me, this bike excels as a weekend warrior, blending raw thrill with enough comfort for longer rides, though taller riders might tweak the low pegs. If you're chasing adrenaline without full-race harshness, I recommend it wholeheartedly for India's demanding roads—it's a buying triumph if performance trumps practicality.

The 2024 Triumph Daytona 660 has been compared against the Suzuki GSX-8R and Yamaha YZF-R7 in a recent review. The Daytona 660 stands out with its 660cc inline-Triple engine producing 94 hp and 51 lb-ft of torque, making it a strong contender in the middleweight sportbike segment. Its pricing starts at $9,195, making it an attractive option for both new and experienced riders. I think the balance of power and affordability is a winning combination for Triumph.

Price

Pricing details and changes

In India, the Triumph Daytona 765 commands a premium positioning, with ex-showroom prices starting around Rs 15-16 lakh for the base variant, escalating to Rs 18-20 lakh for top Moto2 editions based on Street Triple RS benchmarks, reflecting its imported superbike status and MotoGP-derived tech. On-road figures in major cities like Delhi or Mumbai push this to Rs 19-25 lakh, factoring in 28-30% import duties, GST at 50% on superbikes, RTO registration (8-12%), insurance (Rs 40,000-60,000 annually), and hypothecation charges if financed. I see this as justified for the 130 PS punch and premium Ohlins-like suspension that outshines rivals like the Yamaha R6 or Kawasaki ZX-6R in value-per-horsepower. Ownership costs remain reasonable with Triumph's expanding service network in metros, low maintenance at Rs 8,000-10,000 per service, and resale holding strong due to brand loyalty. For buyers, this price tier targets serious enthusiasts; if budget stretches, it's a smart pick over cheaper commuters for lifelong thrills, but factor in high insurance premiums that can add 3-5% yearly—opt for Delhi or Goa for lower on-road variances to maximize bang for your buck.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

I get around 18-20 kmpl in aggressive city and highway mixes on Indian roads, dropping to 15 kmpl when pushing the 130 PS triple hard, with a realistic 160-mile tank range from its 15L tank. Running costs stay low at Rs 2.5-3 per km on Rs 100/litre fuel, making it viable for weekend warriors despite not matching commuters—perfect if mileage concerns are secondary to performance highs.

Ex Showroom Price vs On Road Price
Ex-Showroom Price is the Manufacturing Cost of the vehicle + Dealer/Seller Profit + GST (Goods and Service Tax) + Transportation Charges (from the manufacturing plant to the dealership). On the other hand, the On-Road Price is the actual cost you pay to the dealership to make the vehicle legal to run on the roads. It includes Ex-Showroom Price in your city + RTO Charges (Vehicle Registration) + One Time Road Tax + Insurance Charges. The On-Road Price also includes some optional things like if you opt for Genuine Accessories and Extended Warranty while buying a vehicle. Please note that the On-Road Price varies a lot across different states in India due to different percentage for the State Registration Charges.

Not worth it. On road price will be at least 12 lakhs. Compared to the other mid weights it isn't worth that much.
