How does the Aprilia Tuono 660 perform on the daily commute compared to the Triumph Street Triple R?
As a middleweight naked bike, the Aprilia Tuono 660 and Triumph Street Triple R are both popular choices and are seen as good all rounders; great for a spirited weekend ride as well as in the daily commute. These two bikes are often special subjects of riders’ debate as to which should be ridden daily considering comfort, fuel efficiency, maneuvering in traffic and practicality. The character and suitability for stop-and-go traffic of the parallel-twin engine in the Tuono 660 is also frequently compared to the inline-three engine of the Street Triple. But there are also features like wind protection, seating position and available riding modes that come into the discussion of which bike is better for someone who’s going to mostly commute on their bike but still want to have some weekend fun.
Daily rides are more comfortable on the Tuono 660. Because of its upright position and thinner power delivery, it's easier to ride in traffic.
I'd pick the Street Triple R. And the inline three is buttery smooth at all speeds, the extra power is nice for highway merging.
In its commuting role the Tuono 660 wins. This relaxed riding position and better fuel economy make it perfect for daily use.
The Street Triple R is more versatile. In the city it's just as good, but on the weekends it gives you more oomph to have fun.
I have both, and the Tuono 660 is better for commuting. Surprisingly, for a naked bike, the wind protection is pretty good.
For me, the Street Triple R wins by a narrow margin for its reliability. Triumph's track record for reliability is hard to beat, but Aprilia's are great.
Tuono 660 all the way. It's a tech lover's dream for daily riding, particularly with the Factory model, because of the electronics package.
I like the character of the Street Triple R. Every commute just sounds and feels better with that triple engine.
