Our take on this /// Verdict
The Suzuki GSX-R1000R is a powerhouse of a motorcycle that embodies the spirit of a true superbike. With its 999.8 cc, 4-stroke, 4-cylinder engine producing 202 HP at 13,200 rpm and 117.6 Nm of torque at 10,800 rpm, this bike is designed for both the track and the road. The addition of advanced technologies such as a 10-step traction control system, launch control, and ABS makes it a versatile and safe ride. However, its worth noting that the bike is now discontinued in India, which might affect its resale value and availability of spare parts. Despite this, its legacy and performance make it a desirable choice for serious riders. The bikes suspension, particularly the Showa BFF setup, is commendable for its comfort and stability. While it may have some minor issues like the clunky blipper at lower revs, overall, the GSX-R1000R remains a top contender in the liter-class segment.
Price
The Suzuki GSX-R1000R, before its discontinuation, was priced at approximately Rs 19.81 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This pricing positioned it as a competitive option in the high-end superbike market in India. However, since the bike is no longer available for purchase new, potential buyers would need to explore the used market or consider other current models. The on-road price, which includes additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other fees, would have been around Rs 22-23 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. Despite its competitive pricing, the discontinuation of the model may impact its overall value and desirability in the market.
Latest Updates
Thursday, 29 August 2024 07:52 PM The 2025 Suzuki GSX-R1000R is set to return with no mechanical changes, but it will feature new color options, including Candy Daring Red/Glass Sparkle Black and Metallic Matte Sword Silver on black wheels. This lack of mechanical updates might disappoint some enthusiasts, but the new colors keep the bike looking fresh. I think the design updates are a nice touch, even if the engine remains the same.
Sunday, 25 August 2024 04:43 PM Suzuki has introduced the 2024 GSX-R1000R with new paint schemes, including a Glass Matte Mechanical Gray with dark red wheels and a Metallic Matte Black No. 2 with Glass Sparkle Black and bright blue graphics. The bike retains its 999cc DOHC inline-four engine and advanced electronics like the Suzuki Bi-Directional Quick Shift System. The price for the 2024 GSX-R1000R starts at $18,499, which is a $300 increase from the previous year. I believe the new colors make it a compelling option for those looking for a stylish and powerful bike.
Sunday, 25 August 2024 01:03 PM The 2024 Suzuki GSX-R1000R continues to boast a versatile engine that delivers class-leading power across a broad rpm range. It features advanced electronic rider aids such as traction control, launch control, and a bi-directional quick shifter. The bike is equipped with Showas BFF and BFRC-Lite suspension components, enhancing its performance on both tracks and roads. I think the combination of reliability and performance makes it a top choice in the liter-class supersport category.
Sunday, 25 August 2024 09:46 PM Suzukis decision to not update the GSX-R1000R mechanically for 2024 has been met with mixed reactions. Despite this, the bike remains a favorite among enthusiasts due to its compact chassis, excellent suspension feel, and strong braking control. The 2024 model sees only new color options, which might not be enough for some fans who were hoping for more significant updates. I believe that while the lack of updates is disappointing, the bikes existing features still make it a strong contender.
Monday, 15 July 2024 06:55 AM The 2024 Suzuki GSX-R1000R is available in India, although the pricing and availability details are not as widely publicized as in other markets. The bikes advanced electronics, including the Suzuki Bi-Directional Quick Shift System and traction control, make it a desirable option for Indian riders who crave high-performance motorcycles. Thursday, 28 March 2024 12:14 AM Suzuki has been focusing on sustainability in their racing endeavors, as seen with the Experimental Class bike in the 2024 Suzuka 8 Hours. Although this specific initiative is not directly related to the production GSX-R1000R, it shows Suzukis commitment to innovation and sustainability, which could influence future production models. I believe this focus on sustainability is a positive step for the brand and its enthusiasts.
Wednesday, 10 January 2024 01:08 PM The GSX-R1000Rs engine angle has been rotated backward by six degrees, reducing the distance of the fork to the center of the chassis and increasing the swingarm length. This design change enhances chassis stability and improves aerodynamics, making the bike more stable and responsive. I think this engineering tweak is a significant improvement for riders seeking better handling.
Friday, 05 January 2024 07:32 AM The 2024 Suzuki GSX-R1000R features an aluminum twin-spar-style frame designed using FEM analysis technology, making it 10 percent lighter than the previous generation. Wednesday, 20 December 2023 07:30 AM Suzukis MotoGP knowledge has been integrated into the GSX-R1000R through the use of an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), which provides six-direction, three-axes motion, and position information to the Engine Control Module. This technology allows for instantaneous electronic adjustments to the engine and chassis components, enhancing performance. I think this technology makes the GSX-R1000R one of the most advanced bikes in its class.
Thursday, 16 November 2023 12:20 AM The GSX-R1000Rs cassette-style, six-speed transmission is designed for precise gear matching and ease of maintenance, especially for track use. This transmission, combined with the bikes powerful 999cc engine, makes it a favorite among track enthusiasts. I believe the transmissions design is a key factor in the bikes performance and reliability.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 07:50 AM The mileage of the Suzuki GSX-R1000R is not its strongest suit, given its high-performance nature. This bike is designed for speed and power rather than fuel efficiency. In real-world conditions, you can expect a mileage of around 8-12 kml, depending on how aggressively you ride. On the track or during spirited riding, this figure can drop significantly. For everyday commuting, this bike is not the most practical choice due to its fuel consumption, but for those who prioritize performance and the thrill of riding a superbike, the GSX-R1000R delivers unparalleled excitement. The superbike from the Japanese manufacturer, Suzuki GSX-R1000 was launched in 2001 in order to replace its predecessor GSX-R1100. The Suzuki flagship litre-class machine is one of the most popular superbikes in the world and is eventually one of the expensive models that one can compromise for an extravagant performance and an overly impressive power output.

The Suzuki GSX-R1000R is powered by 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 999.8 cc engine that is capable of producing a maximum power of 202 HP @ 13200 rpm and an utmost torque of 117.6 Nm @ 10,800 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6 speed gearbox and features a kerb weight of 202 kg. The superbike is available in India at a starting range of INR 19,80,000 (ex showroom Delhi) and comes in 2 stunning shades: Metallic Triton Blue & Gloss Black.

The GSX-R1000R competes in the market with the likes of Honda CBR1000RR SP, Yamaha YZF-R1 and Kawasaki ZX-10RR in its segment. The latest electronic and technological advancements have made the superbike perfect both for racing as well as roads. The company claimed speedo of Suzuki GSX-R1000R is 300 kmph making it one of the most desirable superbike out there. The GSX-R1000 is equipped with centrifugally operated system that is capable of offering a better intake as it doesn’t require you to apply rather large external power.

Coming to the suspension, the Suzuki GSX-R1000R gets a inverted telescopic, coil spring, oil damped suspension at the front and link type at the rear that is perfect for offering maximum comfort and stability on the road as well as track. Mixed feelings about my GSX-8R. Love the looks and engine character, but the seat gets uncomfortable on long rides. Fuel efficiency isn't great getting only about 20 km/l in city traffic. Electronics package is good, but the quickshifter can be clunky at low speeds. Still it is a head-turner!

Yeah, its price is high but it is worth much more than that. It's amazing using the beast. I assure you that you will not regret the purchase. And yeah its mileage varies with speed but it is affordable. If you are a bike lover and want a beast for long roots or for short I may recommend this beast.

Best Bike

Best bike for the price... Nice sporty ride. Gear shifting is very soft. Nice pickup. This bike is for tall riders because short persons should bend for the handle bar...It will be difficult for long rides. And the service cost is reasonable and this bike is best for my daily uses and long trips. Finally, just buy it and enjoy the thrill.

Since I was just stepping into the world of motorcycling, I needed a reliable entry-level supersport bike that could cater to my riding skills. I tried out many bikes, but some of them were very expensive, and the others lacked the features I desired. After days of test riding and comparing the different bikes, I purchased the Suzuki GSX-R150, and it has been an ideal choice. The bike's balanced weight distribution and low seat height make it easy to ride at any speed. It is also feature rich and makes riding fun.
