About
The Kawasaki KLX300R is a high-performance off-road trail bike that stands out for its versatility and capability. Powered by a 292cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled DOHC engine, it produces 28.6 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 26.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The bike features a six-speed manual transmission and a lightweight perimeter frame that offers optimized rigidity and stability. The long-travel suspension, with a 43mm cartridge fork and a linkage-assisted shock, provides excellent ground clearance and handling on various terrains. The KLX300R also comes with full-size off-road wheels (21-inch front and 18-inch rear) and powerful petal disc brakes. The ERGO-FIT four-way adjustable handlebar adds to the bikes comfort and adjustability. However, its important to note that the KLX300R is not road-legal in India due to the absence of headlamps, tail lamps, and turn signals, making it strictly an off-road machine.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Kawasaki KLX300R is a stellar choice for those looking to balance off-road adventure with everyday usability. This bike excels in its versatility, seamlessly transitioning between weekend leisure rides and more competitive off-road scenarios. The 292cc fuel-injected, liquid-cooled four-stroke engine delivers a smooth and predictable power delivery, making it accessible for new riders while still engaging for seasoned veterans. The six-speed transmission and manual clutch are smooth and easy to use, and the long-travel suspension ensures a plush ride even on challenging terrain. While the brakes could benefit from more feel, they are well-suited for both on-road and off-road use. Overall, the KLX300R is a well-rounded package that offers great performance, durability, and affordability, making it an excellent option for anyone looking to explore both trails and city streets.
Price
In India, the Kawasaki KLX300R is priced around 5,60,000 on an ex-showroom basis. When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other local taxes, the price can escalate to approximately 6,50,000 to 7,00,000, depending on the state and local regulations. This pricing positions the KLX300R as a competitive option in the off-road segment, offering a high-performance bike that is both capable and durable. Given its features and performance, the KLX300R offers good value for money, especially for those who are serious about off-road riding but also need a bike that can handle occasional city use.
Latest Updates
Thursday, 18 January 2024 03:10 PM
The KLX300 continues to impress with its 292cc fuel-injected engine and six-speed gearbox, offering a balance of low-end torque and top-end pull. This makes it suitable for both off-road adventures and on-road commuting. The bikes lightweight design and excellent stock suspension add to its versatility. I think the KLX300 remains an excellent choice for riders looking for a fun, low-maintenance bike that can handle various terrains.

The 2024 Kawasaki KLX300 boasts updated suspension settings, including a 43mm inverted cartridge fork and a rear shock with adjustable compression and rebound damping. The bike also has a narrower stance and more attractive LED head and tail lamps. These changes improve the bikes handling and ergonomics, making it more comfortable and manageable for riders. I believe these updates will significantly enhance the riding experience, especially for those transitioning from smaller bikes.

The 2024 Kawasaki KLX300 and KLX300SM feature a new ignition lock with five tumblers for improved security, and the supermoto version now uses the same round mirrors as the dual-sport, reducing vibration and wind issues. These practical updates, along with the bikes affordable price point starting at $6,199, make it an attractive option for many riders. I believe these small but significant changes will make the KLX300 more appealing to a wider range of buyers.

Despite minor updates, the Kawasaki KLX300 remains a solid choice in the dual-sport market, offering a balance of performance, handling, and affordability. It is priced competitively, starting at $6,199, which is half the price of some European dual-sports but still delivers adequate power and excellent brakes. I think the KLX300s value proposition is hard to beat, making it a great entry point for new riders and a reliable option for experienced ones.

For the 2024 model year, the Kawasaki KLX300 has been refreshed with new KX-inspired plastics and graphics, giving it a sharper and more aggressive look. The bike now features a new front fender, narrower radiator shrouds, and a compact LED headlight. These updates enhance the bikes appearance and make it feel more slim and trim for the rider. I think these cosmetic changes will appeal to both new and veteran riders, making the KLX300 even more attractive.
Mileage
Monday, 18 November 2024 09:23 AM
The mileage of the Kawasaki KLX300R can vary significantly depending on the riding conditions. With a fuel tank capacity of 7.9 liters, the bikes fuel efficiency is decent but not exceptional. On average, you can expect around 20-25 kml in mixed riding conditions, though this can drop to around 15-20 kml when riding aggressively off-road. The fuel injection system helps in optimizing fuel consumption, but the bikes primary focus on performance means it may not be the most fuel-efficient option. For long off-road adventures, its advisable to carry extra fuel or plan your route accordingly to avoid running low.
