Expert opinion and recommendation
The Honda CBR1000RR-R SP is an outstanding sportbike made for riders seeking complete performance and track-ready accuracy. It's more than simply a bike; it's a precisely honed racer made for the pickiest riders. Its 999cc inline-four engine, which provides amazing power and torque and offers a thrilling and quick acceleration experience, spins at high revs.
Recent news and announcements
Hondas 2025 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP will also be available in a limited Carbon Edition, restricted to just 300 units. This special edition includes a carbon fibre front mudguard, a three-part fairing with winglets, and a mudguard cover, all of which reduce the overall weight by 1kg. I believe this limited edition will be a hit among collectors and serious performance enthusiasts.
The 2025 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP has been certified by CARB, indicating its upcoming availability in the US market. This model boasts significant updates, including a freshly tuned engine, Öhlins third-generation smart suspension, and new aerodynamic winglets. The bike also features a larger TFT display and improved braking with Brembo Stylema front calipers. I think these updates make the Fireblade SP an even more formidable track-ready bike.
The 2025 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP retains its peak power and torque at 215bhp and 83lbft but has undergone significant internal improvements, including a raised compression ratio, adjusted intake ports, and lighter valves and titanium con rods. These changes aim to improve power delivery across the entire rev range. I think these internal tweaks will make the bike even more responsive and powerful.
Honda has issued a recall for the CBR1000RR-R SP Fireblade in the USA. The recall, which is due to a faulty oil cooler pipe affects 331 units sold from April 2020 to October 2021. That is 100 per cent of the bikes sold between that period. Now, the oil cooler pipe in these units of the CBR1000RR-R SP overheat, melt and rupture causing oil to leak onto the exhaust pipe or even the rear tyre, posing a serious safety risk. The issue was reported in Japan first with other reports from Europe and America following through.
Honda has revealed the 2025 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP with several key enhancements, including a new five-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) instrument display, revised engine internals for better midrange power, and an Akrapovic titanium muffler. The bike also includes electronic Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes. I believe these changes will significantly enhance the riding experience, especially for track enthusiasts.
