It’s a good balance in the hybrid version. You don’t get the performance, but you don’t sacrifice the fuel efficiency, either. I think I’m getting the best of both worlds.

I think people exaggerate how much of a performance hit they are taking. It's not a powerhouse, but it is quite enough for its purpose – practical, efficient transportation.

If you’re okay with the size of the Myvi, then there isn’t really much point in jumping to a Vios. Instead, save up for the Corolla — it’s a much bigger step in comfort, features, and driving experience.

I upgraded from a Myvi to a Vios, and I’m satisfied. It’s a marked improvement in refinement and comfort without costing the earth. The Corolla is nice, but it’s a big financial leap that not everyone will need to take.

It depends on your needs. If you spend most of your time on the highway, the Vios is quite an upgrade from the Myvi. If you’re mostly in the city, it’s not that big difference. If not, then stick with the Myvi or go all out for the Corolla.

I'd say go for the Vios. It’s a nice middle ground, as it gets you a taste of a more premium car without the luxury car price of a Corolla. If you ever need, you can always upgrade to a Corolla.

I made the Myvi to Vios jump myself, and I kind of regret not waiting and saving up for the Corolla. Sure, the Vios is better, but not that much better that it feels like a true upgrade. It would have been a more satisfying long term choice.

Then why not consider other options in the Vios price range? Similar upgrades from the Myvi can be had in cars like the Honda City or Nissan Almera, but with some advantages over the Vios. Don't restrict yourself to Toyota.

If you're financing the purchase, the Vios is a good upgrade. For most people, the jump in monthly payments from Myvi to Vios is manageable. On the other hand, the Corolla, which might stretch your budget too far.
Does the Toyota Vios really just a sedan Myvi or is there more to it?

It is definitely more than just a "sedan Myvi." Inside it feels more premium, there's better sound insulation, and it's got a more refined ride. Yes, it’s a little pricier, but you do get what you pay for in terms of comfort and build quality.

I owned both and honestly, the Vios isn’t that big of an upgrade. It’s a bit more comfortable, but for the price difference you’re not getting that much more. It seriously is good value for money.

The Vios is not a “sedan Myvi,” as it’s being oversimplified. It’s a proper B segment sedan with better safety features, more powerful engine and Toyota’s legendary reliability. It's a whole different class.

Being driven extensively myself, I feel the Vios is more substantial on the road. That extra weight gives it better stability when trying to go faster. For practicality and value, it’s hard to beat the Myvi, but not for highway driving.

Is the Vios more, but is it worth the price difference? Probably not for most people. For 90% of what the Vios does, the Myvi does it for a lot less money. If you don’t really need a sedan, the Myvi is the smarter choice.
So why do people still continue to buy the Vios even if it’s not really that good looking and doesn’t have that much features?

It’s about reliability and resale value. They know that a Vios will run forever with very little trouble, and if they sell it they’ll get a good price. Many buyers would rather have that peace of mind instead of fancy features.

Part of it is Toyota's marketing, I think. For years they've marketed the Vios as the 'sensible' choice, and that image sticks. It’s also what people are used to seeing on roads, so it seems like a safe bet.

Being someone who went for a Vios, it's not about excitement, it's practicality. Good fuel efficiency, comfortable enough ride for daily use and low maintenance costs. Not everyone wants or needs a flashy car.

I never got why the Vios was popular. The more interesting options out there are those with better features for similar prices. I think people just buy it because it is a Toyota, and they don't really think about what else is out there.

In many Asian countries it's a cultural thing. The car is regarded more as a practical tool, or even dispassionately, as a nonstatus statement or, at best, a source of driving pleasure. The Vios is just that, a car that does the job without any fuss.

I can tell you I owned a Vios before and it's about the total package. Of course, it's not thrilling, but it's comfortable, convenient, and hassle free to own. When it comes to daily transportation, sometimes boring is good.
