Can Toyota's traditional customer base get behind the Urban Cruiser EV's design?
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is a break from Toyota's usual conservative styling, particularly for their SUV and crossover lineup. Given its more modern, and potentially polarizing aesthetics, there's a question of how well it'll be received by Toyota's loyal customers used to the brand’s usual design language. The Urban Cruiser EV's looks — which appear to borrow some cues from current EVs — could help the brand attract new, younger buyers. But it could also turn off some of Toyota's more traditional customer base who like the understated and timeless designs for which the company is known. If this is the design direction, it could be a sign of things to come in how Toyota will approach vehicle styling in the EV era, and could affect long term brand identity and customer loyalty.
Toyota needs to spice things up. They’ve been boring with designs for years. That could actually get younger people interested in the brand.
I don't know, man. Toyota's thing is they're reliable and they're inoffensive. It might be too 'out there' for most of their usual buyers.
It's not that radical. I think Toyota has found the right balance between modern EV styling and their conservative nature.
That’s the least of their worries. Toyota loyalists don’t care as much about looks as much as they do about reliability and practicality.
I like it! That's a sign of Toyota taking some risks. If they want to stay relevant they can't keep making boring cars forever.
The problem is that it looks too much like other EVs on the market. I wish they would have done something to distinguish it more as a Toyota.
It's fine design, but I'm more worried about how it will age. Will it be old in a few years when everybody is doing crazy EV designs?
