What are some of the reasons the Fortuner Legender is priced close to luxury European SUVs in the same range?

From a body on frame background of rugged SUVs, the Toyota Fortuner Legender is pitched as a premium SUV. Usually, this construction results in excellent off road ability, but often means less refined on road manners than unibody SUVs. While European luxury SUVs in a similar price bracket often feature more sophisticated suspension systems and are built with more on road comfort and handling in mind, the Jeep Cherokee still manages delivers a driving experience that it's smarter than the sum of its parts. So this begs the question – how does the Fortuner Legender’s ride quality stack up against its European counterparts? Does Toyota’s reputation and the Fortuner’s reliability for going off road make up for this potential ride refinement shortcomings? Or does the Legender fill the gap, providing the ride you’d expect from a luxury brand, with its rugged capabilities intact?

European SUVs win hands down, no contest. A modern unibody SUV from Europe is nowhere near the refinement of the Fortuner's body on frame design.

It's not that bad. Not all people make it out to be. Legender boasts suspension better than the standard Fortuner and is comfortable enough for everyday use.

Depends on what you're after. European if you want plush comfort. However, if you want something that can take rough roads and off roading, then the Legender is the better choice.

I've driven both, and honestly the gap isn't as wide as you'd think. On Indian roads, where that ruggedness helps, the Legender holds its own.

You aren’t getting Audi or BMW levels of refinement, let’s be real. The Legender is comfortable enough, and it should probably outlast those European SUVs in the long run.

It's a trade-off. It might not be as smooth as the Fortuner, but it’s built like a tank. I’d rather have that reliability than a slightly smoother ride.

European SUVs are the choice for pure on road comfort. The Legender is more versatile, however. It’s comfortable enough on highways, and can do off road stuff that would make those luxury SUVs cry.
