Even in the full–size luxury segment, fuel efficiency has become an increasingly important factor for many SUV buyers. To make up for the Land Cruiser 300 series’ V8 predecessor’s poor fuel economy, a new twin turbo V6 engine was introduced. This stretch has spawned discussions as to how the new LC300 measures up fuel economy wise against its rivals. Others suggest that, for the money and for the state of the auto industry, the improvement is not enough. But others maintain that fuel efficiency should not be the focus for such a vehicle class and capability. Comparisons to other luxury SUVs and a mix of performance, capability, and efficiency numbers in a large off road oriented vehicle are also sometimes part of the debate.
