How good is the Fortuner Legender's infotainment system, compared to other premium SUVs?

Premium vehicles often tout this system as their chief selling point since it essentially serves as the destination of all things entertainment, navigation and vehicle settings. The Fortuner Legender gets a bigger touchscreen (9 inches) and better connectivity than the vanilla Fortuner. But there’s a debate ongoing about how this system stacks up to what’s offered in other premium SUVs, especially from brands that have a reputation for being tech forward. Legender's system is simple and reliable for some users, and lacking in advanced features and slick user interface for others. Does the infotainment on the Toyota Legender do enough to make the car competitive in the premium segment, or does it still fall behind rivals?

I actually like it. The screen is clear, it’s responsive, and it’s easy to use while driving. Not everyone wants a tech overload in their SUV.

That's a let down for a vehicle at this price point. If Toyota wants to be in the premium segment, they need to step up their game.

For me, it's good enough. The fanciest touchscreen doesn’t matter to me — I care more about how reliable and how it performs. I'm happy as long as it has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The software is dated, the hardware is decent. It would be much more competitive if Toyota could update the UI and add some features via software updates.

It's middle of the road. Not the best, not the worst. It does the job, but it ain't going to blow your mind like some of the European systems.

Actually, I prefer Toyota’s system. It’s simple, it’s reliable, and it doesn’t try to do too much. Not everybody needs all those fancy features that just wind up being distracting.

It's definitely a weak point. Toyota's infotainment systems have always lagged a generation behind the competition. But it doesn’t do anything impressive.
