Expert opinion and recommendation
The TVS Ronin SS is a compelling package for those seeking a versatile and comfortable motorcycle. My experience with the Ronin has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly in urban settings where its smooth engine performance, agile handling, and strong low-end torque make it a joy to ride. The bikes ergonomic design, with a seat height of 795mm and center-aligned foot pegs, ensures a comfortable riding position that is suitable for both short and long rides. While it may not excel at high speeds, the Ronins focus on accessible performance and everyday usability makes it an excellent choice for commuters and casual riders. The addition of features like Bluetooth connectivity, LED lighting, and dual-channel ABS enhances its appeal, making it a well-rounded and reliable option in its segment.
Recent news and announcements
TVS Motor Company has launched the TVS Ronin festive edition in India, priced at Rs 1.72 lakh (ex-showroom). This special edition, based on the top-spec variant, features a new midnight blue color with fluorescent green accents and a blacked-out fly screen above the LED headlight. Mechanically, the bike remains unchanged, powered by a 225.9cc air and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine. I think this new color scheme will definitely attract more buyers during the festive season.
TVS Motor Companys Head of Business - Premium, Vimal Sumbly, stated that the TVS Ronin has set benchmarks with its modern-retro design and advanced features. The festive edition and special pricing are part of their strategy to make the motorcycle more appealing and accessible to customers. I think this approach will help TVS tap into the festive market effectively.
The TVS Ronin now comes with enhanced features, including full LED lighting, a single-pod digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, and adjustable levers. The bike also boasts a USD fork at the front and a 7-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. I think these features make the Ronin a compelling choice for riders looking for a blend of style and technology.
The TVS Ronin is powered by a 225.9cc, air and oil-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 20.4hp and 19.93Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. The bike also features dual-channel ABS with urban and rain modes. I believe this engine and transmission combo provides a smooth and powerful riding experience.
TVS has announced a significant price cut for the base SS variant of the TVS Ronin, reducing its price to Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom) with a discount of Rs 14,000. This move is aimed at making the motorcycle more accessible during the festive season. I believe this price drop will give TVS an edge over its competitors like the Royal Enfield Hunter 350.

Fuel efficiency information
The TVS Ronin SS delivers respectable fuel efficiency, which is a crucial factor for many Indian buyers. In city driving conditions, the bike typically offers a mileage of around 40-45 kml, which is commendable for a 225cc engine. This fuel economy is largely due to the engines tuning for low-end and mid-range torque, which helps in maintaining good efficiency even in congested urban environments. For long rides, the 14-liter fuel tank provides a range of approximately 500-600 km, making the Ronin a reliable choice for both daily commutes and occasional long trips. TVS launched the Ronin bike in our country in three variants called the Ronin SS, DS, and TD. This retro-style motorcycle is offered to entice people who love to buy a bike with modern specs and features but in a typical avatar. The colour scheme of the SS variant consists of two shades named Magma Red, and Lightning Black.
To begin with the cosmetic aspect of the bike, it gets a wide back-pulled handlebar that makes the ride comfortable with a perfect sitting position. There is a round headlamp that has a T-face pilot lamp that not only looks unique but also sheds enough illumination. Instead of many contrasting elements, the TVS Ronin gets blacked-out body parts that appear elegant. However, the custom exhaust gets an aluminium touch. In addition, the bike gets an all-LED tail lamp, and the rest of the design is simplistic.
The instrument console of the bike is an LCD unit, which is circular in shape and is not a huge one. But it provides a host of useful information for the rider, such as speedometer, odometer, tachometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, gear position indicator, distance to empty, average speed, and so on. There are two ABS modes: rain and urban, that are made available on the instrument console for an enhanced experience. The instrument cluster is pairable with your smartphone through Bluetooth connectivity, and you can receive calls and SMS and control the music during the ride.
Powering the TVS Ronin SS is a 225.9cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 4-valve, SOHC engine that comes mated with a 5-speed gearbox. This engine uses fuel injection technology and churns out 20.4 HP at 7750 rpm and 19.93 Nm of torque at 3750 rpm. The SS variant comes with a single-channel ABS system. The suspension duties are done by a 41mm USD front and a mono-shock with a 7-step adjustable preload for better handling the road stress. The braking chores are done by a 300mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear.
