TVS Raider 125 Review
Detailed Review by Maxabout Team
Overview
TVS Raider 125 is a new premium commuter motorcycle from TVS Motor Company, that has been added to the company's portfolio. In the Indian market, this new model from the Hosur-based two-wheeler manufacturer competes against the Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 and the Honda SP 125. The new Raider will be available in two versions from TVS Motor Company: Drum and Disc.
2023 TVS Raider 125, the newest contender in the 125cc category, is an attempt by TVS to equate the word "commuter" with more exciting and sporty attitudes. When compared to its 125cc competitors, the Indian automaker's new entrant is packed with amenities and provides competitive pricing. Since its inception, TVS has boasted about the TVS Raider 125's impressive mileage. With its long list of features and low price, the TVS Raider may reinvent the 125cc segment.
TVS Raider 125 Design and Style
Because of its stylish design, this bike is in high demand among teenagers. A full-LED headlight, tail lights, bulb indicators, tank extensions, engine cowl, and split seat are included on the motorcycle. The muscular tank extensions give the bike a sporting flair. The wide single-piece handlebar, combined with the slightly rear-set footpegs, creates a riding stance that is upright but slightly forward-biased. The cutaway detail in the centre panel, which allows you to see the red mono-shock springs, the shape of the LED headlight, and the shape and size of the tail panel, is a distinguishing feature that sets it apart from other bikes. The under-seat storage box is another unique feature of the design. A side-stand engine cut-off feature is also included on the motorcycle. The split seat is made of high-density foam and is broad. This gives the rider undeniable comfort, especially on twisting roads and when attacking turns. The seat is not too high off the ground (780mm), making it ideal for shorter riders.
TVS Raider 125 Engine and Gearbox
A 124.8cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine provides drivetrain and power in the new TVS Raider 125, producing 11.2 HP at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. This engine is shared by the TVS Ntorq scooter and the TVS Raider. Internally, however, the engine is significantly different, according to TVS, resulting in a 2 HP increase over the scooter's engine. The BS6-compliant 125cc engine is coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission that transfers power from the engine to the wheels.
TVS Raider 125 Brakes, Suspension and Tyres
The new TVS Raider 125 boasts a new chassis with mono-shock rear suspension and a 30mm front telescopic fork. The Raider 125 is easy to handle because of its 123kg weight. The preload on the rear mono-shock is also adjustable in five steps. The front brakes of the TVS Raider 125 are 240mm discs, and the rear brakes are 130mm drums. This is only accessible in the disc version, as the base version only comes with drums. A combination braking system handles safety duties in the TVS Raider 125. The Raider rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with TVS Remora rubber in the front and 100-section tyres in the rear.
Instrument Console of TVS Raider 125
A speedometer, tachometer, gear position and shift indicator, helmet reminder, top speed and average speed recorder, range and mileage indicators, three trip meters, Eco and Power modes, odometer, fuel gauge, and clock are all included in the bike's digital instrument dashboard panel. The multicolour LCD console has full daytime visibility. The tachometer provides digital information in RPM about the bike's performance.
The Top Speed Recorder allows you to not only view but also record your driving performance. The LCD displays information such as helmet attention, side stands with the engine shut off, forthcoming service, low battery, current gear position and gear shift, real-time bike range, and fuel economy. It's been rumoured that TVS is planning to release another model with a 5-inch TFT screen, smartphone connectivity, navigation, and voice command.
Key Features of TVS Raider 125
On both models of the motorcycle, standard features include an LED headlamp with integrated LED DRLs, an LED taillight, a five-inch digital display, an Idle Stop-Start system, and two ride modes (Eco and Power), and first-in-segment under-seat storage. The Connected model also has a colour TFT display, Bluetooth, and a Voice Assist feature that integrates with the TVS SmartXConnect system. The Connected version includes navigation, voice assistance, incoming calls, and message notifications. The newer variants include a USB charging port under the handlebar as an optional feature. It's a hassle-free commute thanks to Intelligo ISS auto-idle start technology. The Mono-Suspension Gas Charged 5-Step Adjustment Rear Suspension is another feature. With this technology, TVS ensures superior handling at high speeds on rocky roads. The chassis and engine are also given additional protection. The TVS claims a 180 mm ground clearance, so terrain will be the last thing on your mind as you go across potholed and uneven roads.
TVS Raider 125 Top Speed and Mileage
2023 TVS Raider 125 gives a mileage of 67 km/l (certified) and in terms of performance, the 125cc motorcycle can speed up from 0 to 60 km/h in around 5.9 seconds, topping the speed of 99 km/h (certified). The top speed and the mileage of the TVS Raider 125 can change depending on the mode you're driving it in (Eco & Power).
TVS Raider 125 Colour Options
TVS has made the new Raider 125 available in 2 variants and four colour options. The mentioned colour options are Blazing Blue, Fiery Yellow, Striking Red, and Wicked Black.
TVS Raider 125 Competitors
The Bajaj Pulsar 125 Split Seat, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, KTM Duke 125, Hero Glamour 125, Honda XBlade, Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon, Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 and the Bajaj Pulsar 150 Neon are the top competitors for the new TVS Raider 125.
Conclusion
2023 TVS Raider marks a return to the 125cc segment for the Indian two-wheeler behemoth. The Raider's style, features, and performance will appeal to young people, and it makes sense for someone shopping for their first motorcycle. The price of the drum brake is competitive, undercutting the Honda Shine SP. However, the price for the disc brake version is excessive. Overall, we think the Raider is one of the best 125cc bikes on the market in India. So, if you're looking for a sporty 125cc bike, the TVS Raider is unquestionably a contender.

Can I increase the tyre size of TVS Raider 125?
07 September 2023 04:21You may go for a big-sized tyre but upsizing the size of a tyre is increasingly becoming an obsession with people to create an added visual appeal to their bike. Moreover, It is advisable to go for an upgrade anywhere between the 3% margin for better performance and handling, increased grip, and creating visual appeal. Some issues that need to be addressed
The TVS Raider 125 is a great looking bike with a sporty design. However, it has some issues that need to be addressed. The ground clearance is quite low so it can be a problem while riding on speed breakers. My center stand also has several scratches on it due to the low ground clearance. I would love it if TVS could fix this issue. Overall, the performance of the bike is great and I'm really pleased with it.
Amazing bike with great features and a good mileage
The TVS Raider 125 is an amazing bike with great features and a good mileage of 70kmpl. It's perfect for those who need a comfortable and ergonomic bike for daily use. I have been using it for my daily rides of 100kms and it has been great. The stylish look and the catchy exhaust notes just add to the overall experience. I'd like to thank TVS for producing such a wonderful bike, I absolutely love it.
Performance is excellent, but the headlight is not quite as good
I am very pleased with my riding experience on the TVS Raider 125. I have been riding it for more than 4 months now and have already clocked over 3000 km in just 3 months. The overall performance is excellent, but the headlight is not quite as good as that of the old TVS Star City bike. This is because the Raider's low lighting doesn't allow it to reach speeds higher than 60 km/hr. I hope that the makers of the Raider will soon address this issue.
Great bike for city rides
The TVS Raider 125 is a great bike for city rides. It is nimble and easy to maneuver through tight spaces. The engine is powerful enough to get you through the city but needs some refinement if you plan on taking it on longer rides. The price range is great and gives a good value for money. The digital meter could be better, as it lags in responding and needs improvement. The servicing at showroom is of good worth and maintenance is not too much of a challenge. The pros include great looks, good performance in the city and low maintenance costs. The cons include an overall fiber body which may not be suitable for long rides.
Engine problem came in my TVS Raider Bike
My TVS Raider Bike have an engine problem after completed first service. I bought Raider bike for office use from one week ago, I'm going to office in bus. I'm not happy with TVS Raider. It's a new bike but why the engine problem was came, spare parts was not available. It's take more than 10 days for clear the problem from now.
