Suzuki Variant
General information and overview
The Suzuki Bandit 150 is a versatile motorcycle that combines the attributes of a sporty bike with the practicality of a commuter. Powered by a 147.3cc, single-cylinder, four-valve, four-stroke engine that is water-cooled and fuel-injected with a DOHC system, this bike offers robust performance. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, ensuring smooth power delivery. The bike features a sporty design with sharp angles, an LED headlamp, and a fully-digital console. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, providing a comfortable riding experience. The seating position is commuter-friendly, with a single-piece seat designed for comfort for both the rider and pillion. Overall, the Suzuki Bandit 150 is a powerful, efficient, and comfortable motorcycle that is well-suited for a wide range of riding needs in India.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Suzuki Bandit 150 is a compelling option in the 150cc motorcycle segment, especially for those seeking a balance between performance and practicality. With its 147cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 19.3bhp and 14Nm of peak torque, this bike delivers robust performance that is on par with its competitors like the Yamaha MT 15. The Bandit 150s lightweight design, tipping the scales at just 135kg, enhances its handling and maneuverability. The bikes design is a mix of sporty and commuter-friendly elements, with features like an LED headlamp, tail lamp, and a fully-digital console. However, the absence of ABS is a notable omission. Overall, the Suzuki Bandit 150 is a strong contender for riders looking for a powerful yet comfortable commuter bike.
Recent news and announcements
The Suzuki Bandit 150 is expected to be priced around Rs 90,000 in India, making it an attractive option for those looking for a budget-friendly sports bike. The bike is available in several color options, including Metallic Matte Titanium Silver, Stronger Red / Titanium Black, and Brilliant White / Aura Yellow. I think this pricing will make it a strong contender in the Indian market.
The Suzuki Bandit 150 is powered by a 147.3cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 18.9 HP at 10,500 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, which is a step up from the 5-speed gearbox found in the Suzuki Gixxer. The bikes performance is comparable to the India-spec Yamaha R15.
The Suzuki Bandit 150 features a water-cooled, four-stroke engine with fuel injection, which enhances its fuel efficiency and performance. The bike is expected to deliver a mileage of 45-55 kmpl, making it a viable option for daily commuting. I believe the fuel injection system will significantly improve the bikes overall efficiency.
In terms of design, the Suzuki Bandit 150 has a sporty look with LED lights, dual disc brakes, and alloy wheels. The bikes suspension is handled by telescopic forks at the front and mono-shock absorbers at the rear, providing a smooth ride. The kerb weight of 145 kg and ground clearance of 150 mm offer good control over sharp corners.
Despite its unveiling at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show in 2018, the Suzuki Bandit 150 has not been launched in India yet. The company seems to be focusing on the Suzuki Gixxer, which is already performing well in the Indian market. I think the Bandit 150 could still find a niche if its ever introduced here.
Pricing details and changes
As of the latest updates, the Suzuki Bandit 150 has not been officially launched in India, which makes pricing in the Indian market speculative. However, if we consider the pricing in other markets, such as Taiwan where it is priced around TWD 120,000 (approximately Rs 3.06 lakh), we can estimate a similar price range in India if it were to be launched. In India, the ex-showroom price could potentially be around Rs 3-3.5 lakh, considering local taxes and other factors. The on-road price would likely be higher, possibly in the range of Rs 3.5-4 lakh, including registration, insurance, and other costs. This pricing would position the Bandit 150 competitively against other 150cc segment bikes.
Fuel efficiency information
The mileage of the Suzuki Bandit 150 is expected to be quite efficient, given its 147cc engine and lightweight design. According to Suzukis claims, the bike can deliver around 50 KML, which is impressive for a 150cc motorcycle. In real-world conditions in India, the mileage might vary depending on riding habits, road conditions, and traffic. However, it is reasonable to expect an average mileage of around 40-45 KML in urban conditions and slightly higher on highways. This makes the Bandit 150 a practical choice for daily commuting and occasional long rides. Expert Verdict
Professional reviews and expert opinions on Suzuki Bandit 150
Suzuki Bandit 150 was unveiled at Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), 2018 and is based on the Suzuki's street bike GSX-S150. The company is nowhere near planning its launch in India since its a market specific product and India already has Suzuki Gixxer with a commendable performance and doing quite well in the market. With a 150 cc engine at its heart, the Suzuki Bandit is a sports bike but can also be used a daily commuter depending on your needs.
Coming to the splendid design, it gets a trapezoidal-shaped LED headlamp, an all-digital instrument console, larger fuel tank extensions, a single saddle seat and much more. The flat handlebars and centre mounted foot-pegs gives it a commuter like stance but all the way muscular. The Suzuki Bandit 150 is available with a dual port exhaust as wells a heat shield.
Powering the Suzuki Bandit 150 is a 147.3 cc, Water-Cooled, Four-Stroke Fuel System engine capable of churning a maximum power of 18.9 HP @ 10,500 rpm and an utmost torque of 14 Nm @ 9,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox unlike the 5-speed gearbox available on Suzuki Gixxer. The suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front while the rear wheel gets mono-shock absorbers. The kerb weight of 145 kgs and ground clearance of 150 mm offers the driver utmost control over sharp corners. The Suzuki Bandit 150 gets disc brakes at both the wheel ends and the company not even offer ABS as an option. It offers a claimed mileage of 45-55 kmpl in the International market.
