Latest Updates
Sunday, 30 June 2024 10:30 PM Yamaha India has launched the 2024 FZ-X range with two new paint schemes – Matte Titan and Chrome, in addition to the existing colors. The FZ-X Matte Titan is priced at Rs. 1,37,200 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike features a 149cc single-cylinder engine producing 12.23bhp and 13.3Nm, linked to a five-speed gearbox. The design remains unchanged, with a round headlight and LED DRLs. I think the new colors will appeal to those looking for a fresh look without compromising on performance.
Wednesday, 17 April 2024 10:32 AM The 2024 Yamaha FZ-X continues to boast advanced features such as full LED illumination, an LCD instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, a USB socket, traction control, and a side stand sensor. The bike also comes with single-channel ABS and a 282mm front disc brake. I believe these features make the FZ-X a compelling option in the 150cc segment, especially for safety-conscious riders.
Thursday, 23 February 2023 12:08 PM Yamaha has updated the FZ-X with a traction control system, a rare feature in the 150cc segment. This system helps prevent the rear wheel from spinning out of control, particularly on slippery surfaces. I think this addition enhances the bikes safety profile, making it more suitable for various riding conditions.
Sunday, 01 January 2023 08:36 PM The Yamaha FZ-X is available in five color options: Matte Titan, Chrome, Dark Matte Blue, Metallic Black, and Matte Copper. I believe the color variety and tech features make the FZ-X an attractive choice for commuters.

The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 10 liters and is priced starting at Rs. 1,36,200 (ex-showroom, Delhi). I think this eco-friendly aspect will resonate with environmentally conscious buyers.

Ex Showroom Price vs On Road Price Ex-Showroom Price is the Manufacturing Cost of the vehicle + Dealer/Seller Profit + GST (Goods and Service Tax) + Transportation Charges (from the manufacturing plant to the dealership). On the other hand, the On-Road Price is the actual cost you pay to the dealership to make the vehicle legal to run on the roads. It includes Ex-Showroom Price in your city + RTO Charges (Vehicle Registration) + One Time Road Tax + Insurance Charges. The On-Road Price also includes some optional things like if you opt for Genuine Accessories and Extended Warranty while buying a vehicle. Please note that the On-Road Price varies a lot across different states in India due to different percentage for the State Registration Charges.

Yamaha FZ-X 150 Review

09 Nov, 2023 11:31 AM

Detailed Review by Maxabout Team

Introduction

One of the 15 products by Yamaha in the Indian market, Yamaha FZ-X 150 is a neo-retro scrambler premium commuter, made specifically for the Indian masses. With the increasing number of customers looking for a versatile commuter that is powerful, easy to ride and fuel-efficient, Yamaha came up with the FZ-X 150, introducing it in the most competitive section. Based on the FZ-S Fi platform, it seems to have drawn inspiration from the Yamaha XSR motorcycles. Yamaha is targeting the retro segment below the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 with the FZ-X 150 which could be an ideal space for an affordable retro bike installed with practical tweaks.

Yamaha FZ-X 150 Design and Style

FZ-X 150 is offered with an upright riding position, standard engine bash plate, Bi-functional LED headlight with DRL, LED taillight and a newly designed negative LCD console with USB. It is installed with a single unit step-up seat with tuck and roll pattern, tall set handlebar, engine cowl, the rugged dual-purpose tyres and the fork gaiters to enhance its overall style and a grab rail at the rear. New Yamaha FZ-X 150 overall dimensions are 2020mm*785mm*1115mm, seat height is 810mm, wheelbase of 1330mm, the kerb weight of 139 kg and the fuel tank has a total capacity of 10 litres.

Yamaha FZ-X 150 Engine and Gearbox

2024 Yamaha FZ-X 150 houses a BS6-compliant 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke 2-valve, SOHC with TCI (Transistor Controlled Ignition) which can generate a max power of 12.4 HP @ 7250 rpm and a max torque of 13.3 Nm @ 5500 rpm. Yamaha mated the FZ-X engine with a 5-speed constant mesh transmission with a wet multiple-disc clutch.

Yamaha FZ-X 150 Suspension, Brakes and Tyres

Being suspended on a diamond chassis, FZ-X gets a 41mm Telescopic fork in the front and the 7-Step Adjustable Mono-Shock Absorber for the rear suspension. New FZ-X 150 gets a 282mm Disc brake in the front and a 220mm Disc brake at the rear with a single-channel ABS. It is installed with 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres of section 100/80-17 M/C 52P front and a 140/60-R17 M/C 63P rear tyre section.

Instrument Console of Yamaha FZ-X 150

It is offered with a negative LCD screen instrument console which has a speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, odometer, clock, fuel gauge, ABS light, low-fuel warning, economy riding indicator, and Bluetooth connectivity. It gets a dedicated Yamaha Motorcycle Connect mobile app called the Y-Connect app, which offers Missed Call and Incoming alerts, SMS & E-mail alert, app connectivity, phone battery level, fuel consumption, maintenance recommendation, and last parking position, malfunction, ranking and Revs dashboard. Revs dashboard provides data which is not available on the instrument cluster, such as Engine RPM, throttle opening, rate of acceleration, Eco-friendly riding indicator and real-time fuel consumption.

Yamaha FZ-X 150 Colour Options

Yamaha is giving the new FZ-X 150 in two variants STD and with Y-connect and the available colours for the bike are Matte Copper (Mat Dull Orange Metallic 3), Matte Black (Mat Black 2) and the Metallic Blue (Blue Metallic C).

Competitors

Honda CB Hornet 160R, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer 155, Hero Xtreme 160R, and Bajaj Pulsar NS160 can be considered rivals for the Yamaha FZ-X 150.

Verdict

The idea of a crossover between the 150cc and 200 cc segment is commendable, and new FZ-X 150 offers many interesting things. All digital Instrument Console, Bluetooth Connectivity, Solid Build Quality, Vast Service Network and Decent Mileage are some features you can get attracted by while browsing about this bike and as for the cons it has a few the design and style are not for everyone, the engine is underpowered, switchgear quality is poor. So keeping all that in mind, if you still want a bike for daily commutes and aren’t scared of its design and style and all the features and specs attract you to this bike, then it can be a decent option for you.
