General information and overview

The Honda CB Hornet 160R is powered by a 162.71cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 15.6bhp at 8500rpm and 14.76Nm of torque at 6500rpm. This engine is mated to a smooth 5-speed gearbox and features Hondas Eco Technology (HET), making it compliant with Bharat Stage IV emission norms. The bike boasts a sporty design with a muscular tank, forward-leaning shrouds, and a distinctive X shaped LED tail lamp. It comes with telescopic forks in the front and a monoshock suspension in the rear, ensuring a comfortable ride. The braking system includes a 276mm disc brake in the front and a 220mm disc brake in the rear, with the CBS variant offering enhanced braking stability. The bike also features a fully digital instrument cluster, LED headlamp, and tubeless tyres, making it a solid choice for both city commuting and weekend rides.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Honda CB Hornet 160R is a well-rounded package that ticks all the right boxes for an urban commuter. Its aggressive yet elegant design, particularly the muscular tank and the distinctive X shaped LED tail lamp, makes it a head-turner on the roads. The bikes engine, though not the most powerful, delivers smooth and linear power, making it a joy to ride in city traffic and on highways. The handling is impeccable, with a comfortable riding posture and well-tuned suspension that glides over potholed roads with ease. However, the bike does lack a bit of punch in the higher speed ranges and has some minor niggles like the cost of parts and occasional engine vibes. Overall, it is a great upgrade for someone moving from a 125cc bike, offering a perfect blend of style, comfort, and performance.

Latest Updates

Recent news and announcements

The Honda CB Hornet 160R SE has been discontinued in the Indian market, marking the end of its production run. This decision is part of Hondas strategy to refresh its lineup and focus on newer models. I think this move might disappoint some loyal fans, but it opens the door for more innovative offerings from Honda.

In a recent price adjustment, the Honda CB Hornet 160R saw a hike of Rs. 559 across all its variants. This change brought the base price of the CB Hornet 160R to Rs. 85,234, while the top-of-the-line ABS version was priced at Rs. 92,675. I believe this price increase reflects the rising costs of production and raw materials.

Honda introduced the 2018 CB Hornet 160R with several updates, including the addition of an ABS variant. The new model was priced starting at Rs. 84,675 for the CBS trim and went up to Rs. 92,675 for the ABS-equipped version. This update was a significant step towards enhancing safety features in the segment.
March 28, 2018
A special edition of the Honda CB Hornet 160R was launched in 2016, available in two variants. This special edition came with unique graphics and color schemes, appealing to buyers looking for a stylish and sporty motorcycle. The price for this special edition was set at Rs. 81,413. I think these special editions are a great way to keep the model fresh and exciting.
September 6, 2016
The Honda CB Hornet 160R is available in five color options and comes in different variants, including cosmetic variations known as Special Editions. These special editions have different graphics but do not include ABS as an option. I believe these color options and special editions help in appealing to a broader range of buyers.

Honda Losing Business Big Time!!!

**Very Disappointed with Honda Service **

Honda is a good brand no doubt about it. But it is losing business big time just because of their after sale maintenance & service. There can be a thousand problems in your bike and its natural but Honda service centers are never interested to solve these issues. The technicians and the mechanics are not well trained to diagnose the problem and instead they try to convince the customer that they can live with it as these are very common and its not a problem at all. Due to the poor after sale service, the brand name Honda is getting ruined. From my side Honda can no longer live up to its reputation anymore. I owe a CB Hornet 160R CBS and I am facing a problem with my bike visited the showroom (Premier Honda Dankuni, WB.) 15 times but the issue was not yet resolved rather I am spending money on petrol and wasting my precious time which I am now forced to do so.

Honda CB Hornet 160 R is the best looking naked street bike in the 160 cc segment, even better than Suzuki Gixxer 155.
