Royal Enfield Cafe Racer 535
About
The Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 is a café racer that stands out with its classic design and British influence. Designed by Xenophya Design Studio in the UK, it features a Triton-inspired fuel tank, classic round headlight, and Lucas-style taillight. The bike is powered by a 535cc, single-cylinder engine with EFI, producing 29.1 HP and 44 Nm of torque. It has a five-speed gearbox, a wet multi-plate clutch, and a tubular steel double cradle chassis. The suspension includes 41mm non-adjustable forks and Paioli twin preload-adjustable gas-charged shock absorbers. Braking is handled by Brembo discs at both ends, though the rear brake can feel less responsive. The bikes ergonomics are tailored for café racer enthusiasts, with clip-on handlebars and a non-pillion seat, making it a unique and engaging ride for those who appreciate its style and character.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 is a motorcycle that embodies the spirit of a classic café racer, but it comes with its own set of quirks and limitations. The bikes ergonomics are well-suited for its intended purpose, with clip-on handlebars and a sculpted tank that make it comfortable for riders who enjoy the café racer stance. However, the clutch setup can be problematic, with a narrow takeup zone that makes launching and downshifting less than elegant. The engine, while producing only about 29 horsepower, delivers a robust 44 Nm of torque at a low 4,000 RPM, making it adept for quick overtakes and navigating through crowded roads. Handling is old-school, requiring more deliberation and setup for corners, but it rewards with a planted feel at modest speeds. Despite some ergonomic and braking issues, the Continental GT 535 remains a fun and involving ride, especially with some aftermarket upgrades.
Price
In India, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 was priced around 2.15 lakhs ex-showroom when it was available. However, since this model has been discontinued, prices for used or pre-owned models will vary. On-road prices, including registration, insurance, and other costs, would have been approximately 2.5 lakhs to 2.7 lakhs, depending on the state and local taxes. As an owner, you need to consider that buying a used model might require additional costs for maintenance and any necessary upgrades. The price, while competitive in its segment at the time of launch, reflects the bikes unique blend of style and performance.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 05:45 PM
The mileage of the Royal Enfield Continental GT 535 is generally around 25-30 kmpl in city riding conditions and can go up to 35-40 kmpl on the highway, depending on the riding style and road conditions. This makes it a reasonable choice for daily commuting and short tours, though it may not be the most fuel-efficient option available. Considering the bikes torquey engine and the need to keep it within its sweet spot of 3,000 to 5,000 RPM, fuel efficiency is decent but not outstanding.

User Reviews for Royal Enfield Continental GT (2019)
Reviews Submitted by Maxabout Community
There has not been a month since the purchase in which I had to skip calling the mechanic. In fact, he has become a really good friend of mine. The bike build quality is extremely poor. The tyre puncture situation is the worst. The bike is light as a Royal Enfield but still heavy as a normal bike. As soon as the tyre punctures, the weight of the bike destroys that tube and when you take it to the repair shop, the puncture guy asks for extra money because of how hard it was to take out the rear wheel.
Best Features: Gets a lot of attention and sounds great with sports exhaust
Pros: Has a good seating position, engine offers a lot of torque, has good brakes and handles well
Cons: Very poor built quality, mileage is poor, starts to rust very soon, engine leaks oil, very hard to take the rear wheel off in case of puncture
