Kawasaki ER-6n Review

Quick Review by Maxabout Team

Kawasaki has launched a new sporty, practical, cool and agile bike called the 'ER-6n' in the Indian market. Let’s try to know about the surprising elements of this bike.

Design and Style

The ER-6n is designed using a new exposed double pipe perimeter frame in order to make it a solid bike. The new bodywork accentuates the frame rather than hiding it. The single compact headlight assembly with a twin barrel setup looks appealing. The tank is slightly taller which visually concentrates the front part of the ER-6n but from there onwards, the bike looks exactly like the Ninja 650. The red-finished exposed mojo-shock unit along with matching red rim-tapes makes it more attractive. The underbelly exhaust design of the bike looks quite similar too. The motorcycle is equipped with a sporty looking tandem seat along with passenger grips, thick cushioning, rubber-mounted seat bracket and a comfortable handlebar for first class ergonomics.

Instrument Panel

There is good news in this department as ER-6n gets a combined analogue-digital instrument console. It looks more impressive and premium than the fully analogue or fully digital instrument cluster. The bike has a semi-circular dial for its analogue tachometer while it has blue back lit LCD for its digital speedometer, clock, trip meter and fuel gauge. This instrument console also provides important information to the rider while it features other essential LED indicators on the sides of the console.

Dimensions and Fuel tank Capacity

It comes with a length of 2110 mm, width of 770 mm and a height of 1110 mm as its dimensions along with a wet or kerb weight of 204 Kgs. It has a fuel tank capacity of 16 litres which does not disappoints you on the long runs.

Engine and Gearbox

The ER-6n is powered by a 649cc, 4-stroke, liquid cooled, parallel twin, two cylinder, DOHC engine which pumps out a peak power of 71 Bhp at 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 64 Nm at 7000 rpm. The engine is mated to a six speed transmission and a wet multi-disc, manual clutch system. It has a sealed chain final drive and forced , semi-dry sump type lubrication system.

Brakes and Suspension

The motorcycle comes fitted with Dual semi-floating 300 mm petal disc brakes with Dual piston calipers at the front and Single 220 mm petal disc brakes with Single-piston caliper at the rear end. The suspension duties are handled by 41 mm telescopic fork at its front while Offset laydown single-shock with adjustable preload are placed at the rear end. It has a front a front wheel travel of 125 mm and rear wheel travel of 130 mm.

Ride and Handling

It has a wheelbase of 1410 mm which makes this bike stable around corners and it has a low ground clearance of 130 mm to enhance its aerodynamics. Its capable suspension system and broad tyres offer firm grip to this bike on roads but we still wish if it had a longer wheelbase. The braking system accurately stops this bike in city traffic and improves the handling quality of this bike. It’s quite energetic and impressive on highways but its full fairing limits its movement in city traffic as the bike constantly looks for space to move frequently in city.

Price

The ex-showroom, Delhi price of this naked sports bike is INR 4.78 lakh, which may vary.

  • Which one is better - Kawasaki ER-6n or Ninja 650R?

    29 December 2022 05:49

Both the bikes share the same engine, making them twins by heart and different from the looks. The Ninja 650R would be a better choice than the ER-6n. The faired motorcycle always have an advantage of steady ride at high speeds. This means that the windblast protection and aerodynamic values of the 650R would make it a stable motorcycle at high speeds. The bike comes with a windshield and the fairing protects the rider from long drive fatigues. The price difference between the bike is just INR 22,000 making the 650R a better option for sure. It is powered by a 649 cc engine, producing 71 BHP and 64 NM of torque. With its 6-speed transmission, the bike is an excellent sport touring motorcycle.

Awesome Bike

Wow what a bike, i like this bike so much that i just cant stop looking at it. This bike is a wonderful package, it has got good acceleration, brakes and seats. You can actually do a 0-100 in just 3.5 seconds if you are a good dragger, i mean it. The only thing i don't like about this bike is its ground clearance. I really think in India a bike should have a ground clearance of at least 150 mm if not more. I like the ER6n more than the Ninja 650, yes the Ninja 650 has the fairing and looks bigger and it also goes a fraction faster than the ER6n but because of the lack of fairing the ER6n is 6 kilos lighter than the Ninja 650 and that definitely would help the ER6n to get a quicker 0-100 timing than the Ninja 650. Well, i don't hate the ninja 650 the way i hate the Kawasaki Versys but its just that i like the ER6n more than the ninja. No offence guys, wear your helmets and the gears, anticipate and ride faasssst....
