KTM 790 Duke Review

Expert Review by Maxabout

KTM 790 Duke is an impressive twin cylinder motorcycle that makes other four cylinder machines around the segment shy with its outstanding design and performance aspects. KTM uses a powerful, 799cc engine that is good for 105 HP at 9000 rpm and 86 Nm at 8000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. When coupled to its wet weight of 189 kg, KTM 790 Duke simply pushes all boundaries ahead for competitors.

It carries 14 liters of fuel tank and comes with an expected price tag of INR 6 lakh. Some reports are even claiming that KTM will keep it under INR 6 lakh worth on-road price. High amounts of localization for production can make this fact true for the Indian market. KTM is operational under Bajaj Auto and they have very well placed the single cylinder Duke options in India. If hundred percent localization is achieved, it will simply flaunt the most impressive power to rupee ratio of all time for superbikes in India.

Front fascia is almost similar to KTM 390 Duke and thus, one can only guess from the side profile that this one gets a dual exhaust outlet and full grown exhaust with an impressive design. KTM 790 Duke comes with WP 43mm USD forks with 140mm of travel for the front while rear comes with WP shock absorber with 150mm of travel. Front braking is handled by twin 300mm disc brakes while rear gets single 240mm disc, both sides equipped with dual channel ABS as standard.

However, the Bosch 9MP ABS setup is disenggable at times when rider does not need the same during a ride. KTM even offers a limited power A2 license friendly version fr 790 Duke that can be unlocked later when the rider gets his/her actual superbike license in European countries.
