Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 Review
Quick Review by Maxabout Team
Ducati's highly awaited model, the baby Scrambler has finally been unveiled at the EICMA 2015. The expected name of Scrambler 400 was left over for a sweet new name, the Sixty2. The all new motorcycle looks much like its elder cousin, resembling them in design and overall structure. Ducati's youngest offering would also be the most affordable motorcycle from the manufacturer, making it a good option for the growing Indian motorcycle market.
Design & Style
The Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 looks smart and lean when compared to the bulky big sized Scramblers from other brands. It carries 10 spoke Black alloys on two different sized wheels. The Sixty2 comes with a fat rear tyre and a raised handlebar for a perfect casual motorcycle look. It's round headlight and shortened front mudguard looks perfectly matched to the body of the Scrambler Sixty2. The engine guard covers the upper half below the fuel tank and the trendy exhaust improves its overall side profile.
Dimensions & Weight
The Sixty2 measures 2150mm in length, 860mm in width and 1165mm in height. It gets a 1460mm of wheelbase and comes with a seat height of 770mm-790mm (adjustable seat available as an accessory). The dry weight of the bike just 167 kg and the kerb weight stands at 183 kg. The fuel tank measures 14 liters.
Engine & Gearbox
Ducati's smallest production engine, the 399cc L-Twin motor used on the Sixty2 comes with a max output of 41 HP @ 8750 rpm and 34.6 NM @ 8000 rpm. The engine complies to the Euro 4 norms and comes with a 6-speed gearbox.
Braking & Suspension
The braking on the motorcycle is handled by a 320mm, 2-piston floating caliper disc brake on the front and a 245mm, single piston floating caliper disc at the rear. The ABS being used on the same is a dual channel Bosch 9.1 MP system. The suspension on the front is a 41mm, Showa forks and the rear uses a Kayaba rear shock. The front tyre is a Pirelli MT 60 RS measuring 110/80-18 whereas the rear measures 160/60-17.
Shades & Expected Price
The shades for the new Sixty2 includes Atomic Tangerine, Ocean Grey and Shining Black. The same is expected to cost around INR 5,50,000-5,75,000 in India. This would make it the most affordable Ducati in the country.
