On the other hand, the On-Road Price is the actual cost you pay to the dealership to make the vehicle legal to run on the roads. It includes Ex-Showroom Price in your city + RTO Charges (Vehicle Registration) + One Time Road Tax + Insurance Charges. The On-Road Price also includes some optional things like if you opt for Genuine Accessories and Extended Warranty while buying a vehicle. Please note that the On-Road Price varies a lot across different states in India due to different percentage for the State Registration Charges. |
Bajaj Pulsar 220F Review
Detailed Review by Maxabout Team
Introduction
The Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi made a terrific entry when it was introduced in July 2007 with its sporty styling and some features that were brand new to the Indian market. The bike hasn't seen any substantial upgrades in a long time in the Indian market but still retains its appealing appearance with its quarter fairing and vertically-placed dual headlights. At this price point, the Pulsar 220F is a super stylish bike, and it is still one of the favourites among buyers in this motorcycle segment. With the implementation of the BS-VI emission standards, the brand has upgraded its most popular bike among Indian bike lovers. Here's how the latest improvements have impacted the motorcycle.
Bajaj Pulsar 220F Design & Style
The bike has a semi-fairing, which provides a stylish appearance and excellent aerodynamics, and it comes with two vertical halogen headlights, one with a low beam and the other one with a high beam. In addition to that, the motorcycle features a black-coloured front visor with twin rear view mirrors. The clip-on handlebar includes a pass switch, electric start, engine stop switch, and self-cancelling blinkers.
Furthermore, the bike features well-padded, sporty split seats that give the rider as well as the pillion a high-end comfort level. On the back of this bike, there are split rear grab rails, an ultra-stylish LED tail lamp and crystal lens turn indicators. Built on a double cradle down tube, the Pulsar 220F has an overall body size of 2035 mm in length, 750 mm in width, 1165 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 1350 mm, which gives it an indispensable look on the street. With a minimum ground clearance of 165 mm, the machine's entire kerb weight is 160 kg.
Bajaj Pulsar 220F Instrument Console
While talking about the instrument cluster of the bike, it has some updates from the previous model as it now has faux carbon fibre bezels and the display is illuminated in blue rather than amber as it was in the previous generation. The console displays a 12000 rpm meter, two trip metres with average fuel economy information, instant fuel economy, an odometer, an analogue tachometer, and also a distance-to-empty feature. The fonts and info on the cockpit have undergone significant changes while the rest of the features remain the same, such as an air filter choke-up light, a low battery warning indicator, a side stand warning signal, and neutral-high beam controls.
Bajaj Pulsar 220F Engine and Gearbox
The current-gen model is powered by a 220cc, 4-stroke, DTS-i, oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine with a five-speed gearbox. The engine is calibrated to produce a maximum power of 20.4 HP @ 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 18.55 Nm @ 7000 rpm, making it one of the most powerful motorcycles in its class. The wet multi-plate clutch assembly distributes power to the back wheel, and the Digital Twin Spark Ignition (DTS-i) technology enables the motorcycle to deliver smooth acceleration and a decent mileage figure. However, no mechanical changes have been made to the BS6 emission-compliant engine.
Bajaj Pulsar 220F Brakes, Suspension, and Tyres
The Pulsar 220F is equipped with 90/90-17 front and 120/80-17 rear wide tubeless tyres set on reinforced 5-spoke alloy wheels. The braking duties are taken care of by a 280mm front disc brake and a 230mm rear disc brake, which are further paired with a single-channel ABS unit. While looking forward to the suspension system, the front telescopic forks and five-way adjustable Nitrox shock absorbers at the rear of the motorcycle offer a pleasant ride on any terrain.
Bajaj Pulsar 220F Top Speed and Mileage
With its strong top end, the 220F is well suited for extended highway rides. The bike can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in just 3.80 seconds and is capable of achieving a top speed of 144 kmph. Also, when speeding down the highway, the quarter fairing helps to deflect the wind and gives a smoother driving experience. The 15-litre fuel tank provides enough range on long journeys as well as the DTS-i technology uses dual spark plugs to help complete combustion and increase fuel economy, so the bike provides a decent mileage of approximately 35–40 kmpl in the city and 45–50 kmpl on the highway.

Which one should I buy – Bajaj Pulsar 220F or Pulsar 180 DTSi?
29 December 2022 06:10You should go for Bajaj Pulsar 220F instead of the 180 DTS-i as the bigger Pulsar is one of the most effective motorcycle that you can buy under INR 1 lakh. It comes with a powerful 220 cc engine producing 20.8 BHP at 8500 rpm and 19.12 Nm at 7000 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox and sprints from 0-100 kmph in just 10.5 seconds. Pulsar 220F weighs just 150 kg and claims a top speed of 134 kmph. The higher speeds are shown due to speedometer errors on the bike. It comes with a price tag of INR 91,200 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the 2017 model. Know more about Bajaj Pulsar 220F here - https://autos.maxabout.com/bikes/bajaj/pulsar/pulsar-220f

Should I buy Bajaj Pulsar 220F?
29 December 2022 06:08Hello Sidharth, the AS200 has not actually failed from the performance perspective while the low sales number is the reason to bring the failure tag close to it. The Pulsar 220F is a great motorcycle for sure but its typical rear half section feels outdated for a motorcycle of this class. If faired is your first choice, you only have the choice between Pulsar AS200, 220F, Yamaha Fazer and Suzuki Gixxer under INR 1 lakh. Lack of option and least difference between the prices of 150 cc others and 220 cc Pulsar makes it the clear winner out of all. However, the KTM sourced 199.5 cc motor is more refined and uses more technology on the AS200. If you plan to keep your bike with you for next 4-5 few years, do consider your favorite instead of going over low market value and resale prices.

Why Bajaj Pulsar 220F does not have a 6th gear and single suspension at the back?
29 December 2022 06:08Bajaj Pulsar 220F belongs to an old generation of motorcycles which were fitted with a a 5-speed gearbox and the use of 6-speed gearbox as well as monoshock was limited to expensive bikes. If Bajaj would have updated the same with technologies like fuel injection and others, the motorcycle would have costed around 1,25,000 at that time. Now they cannot do the same as it will cannibalize the sales of higher variants like AS200 and RS200. If someone wants loads of technology, RS200 is the option while if brute power is the need, Pulsar 220F manages it well.

Review for NS200
Overall NS200 is the best bike in the World in this price range, other companies offer the best bikes like Duke 200, and Honda Hornet 2.0 but the price is high.
Best Features: Power of NS200
Pros: Power, Comfortable, Performance, Value for Money, Low Maintenance, Looks.
Cons: Weight, Mileage, Instrument Console.
PULSAR RS200
Motorcycles are not cell phones. They need to have durability. When someone invest more than 1.5 lacs he is expecting a motorcycle which will run smooth for at least 5 yrs without basic maintenance. I spent more than 50k to maintain my RS200 in 3.5 Yrs finally with a heavy heart sold it off. Very very poor built quality of bajaj. I am really disappointed. I loved my bike so much. But for such a poor built quality I had to sell it off.
Best Features: Speed and Looks
Pros: Only Looks and Speed are Good
Cons: Very Very Poor Built Quality
NS 200 Needs Slipper Clutch
The Bike Is A Beast Only The Missing Thing Is Slipper Clutch While Downshifting At Higher Speed The Engine Has Damaged So If It Has A Slipper Clutch There Will Be No Issue While Downshifting
Best Features: The Analog Meter With Digital Combination Is Perfect
Pros: It's Performance Is Amazing
Cons: About The Clutch
Best in 200 CC
Best in class compared to other 200cc bikes, great handling, comfort for city rides, sexy naked look, awesome performance, braking also too good. Better choice for middle class people’s.
Best Features: Top Speed, Braking, Maintenance
Pros: Looks, Performance, Handling
Cons: Mileage, Top end vibration
Digital meter consoles
Please add new features for a digital meter like Gear number indicator, Distance to empty, and Real-time mileage and also dual ABS channel. According to me, these features are most important for getting the best riding experience. Please you must add these features in pulsar 150 Dual disc brakes variant
Best Features: Mileage, looking design
Pros: Speedometer and fuel level
Cons: Less durability
