Discussions and Questions - BYD BYD
Is the range anxiety causing or is the BYD Seagull practical for daily use?
04 February 2025 06:01
It's anxiety-inducing for sure. If unexpected, long trips are necessitated, maybe you want to reconsider. I would always be worried about running out of juice.
Is the game changer the BYD Seagull or just another batch of Chinese junk?
04 February 2025 06:01
Safety is not something I'd worry about while speed is not a problem either, but range anxiety is something I'd worry about on long highway trips. A crash seems scarier than running out of charge.
Let us compare the Sealion 7’s charging speed to the other EVs in real world?
23 January 2025 11:07
It’s actually pretty good for the charging curve. In comparison to some competitors, it keeps the higher speeds for longer, which can be a big deal on long journeys.
How reliable has been the software of the Sealion 7 and how does it compare to other established EV makers?
23 January 2025 11:07
I've had my Sealion 7 for 6 months now and the software has been rock solid. There are no major bugs, and OTA updates have actually added some cool new features.
How does the Sealion 7 perform in real life in terms of range?
23 January 2025 11:07
For city driving, I’ve found the range to be pretty spot on, but it falls off quickly in the hills. This is something to think about if you live in a mountainous region.
Is the Sealion 7's interior quality worth the Sealion 7's premium price tag?
23 January 2025 11:07
Initially I was skeptical when it comes to the Sealion 7, but the interior of it really impressed me. The materials are high quality and that rotating screen is a game changer for usability.
So is the BYD Sealion 7 a true Tesla Model Y competitor?
23 January 2025 11:07
Both have been test driven by me, and I have to admit I was surprised by the Sealion 7. It feels more solid than the Model Y, and that rotating screen is actually pretty cool in real life. Tesla's software, and Autopilot, are still leagues ahead though.
Are the BYD Seal’s advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on par with competitors?
02 January 2025 06:54
On highways the lane keeping on my Seal works great, but on poorly marked roads it struggles. At the price, it’s impressive though.
Is the BYD Seal's infotainment system the deal breaker for tech savvy buyers?
02 January 2025 06:54
The screen is cool rotating, but the UI seems clunky compared to my old Tesla. It's definitely the weak point of the Seal.
Is the BYD Seal’s value proposition worth overlooking issues of brand recognition and resale value?
02 January 2025 06:54
China’s BYD is huge and growing fast globally. As the brand recognition improves, I think early adopters will be rewarded.
Is the driving experience of the BYD Seal too "ICE-like" for EV enthusiasts?
02 January 2025 06:54
I test drove one and was disappointed that it didn’t have one pedal driving. The Seal misses out on this one of the best features of EVs.
Does the BYD Seal hold up to the build quality of established luxury brands?
02 January 2025 06:54
As a former owner of both “premium” and mainstream brands, I believe that the Seal is punching well above its weight class in terms of quality.
Is the BYD Seagull good enough for daily driving?
02 January 2025 06:48
People have to get their expectations right. This is not a Tesla, it's an affordable city car. The performance is fine for what is would have been used for.
Will BYD Seagull’s success inspire other manufacturers to bring more affordable EVs to the market?
02 January 2025 06:48
I hope so! More affordable EVs are what we desperately need to accelerate adoption. Other manufacturers might need the Seagull to be the kick in the pants they needed.
Is the BYD Seagull's real world range a deal breaker?
02 January 2025 06:48
I honestly don't think it's a deal breaker. At 250km, it's plenty for daily commutes, or some longer trips. We have to be realistic about what people actually need to drive.
Is the BYD Seagull built to justify its price tag?
02 January 2025 06:48
I believe people are just too hung up on brand names. Who cares if it’s from a newer company if it’s well built and affordable? Good quality doesn't have to be expensive and BYD is proving that.
Could the BYD Seagull compete in Western markets?
02 January 2025 06:48
All will depend on marketing. If BYD can build customer trust and provide good after sales support, they can overcome the stigma of the 'Chinese car'.
Is BYD's decision to focus on practicality over style in the e6 a smart long term strategy or a marketing misstep?
02 January 2025 06:35
I believe BYD is still playing the long game here. As EVs become more standard, it won’t be about novelty anymore — it’ll be about practicality. That shift is positioned perfectly for the e6.
Is the BYD e6 a glorified taxi or a legitimate family car?
02 January 2025 06:35
I’ve driven the e6 and other EVs and it’s definitely more than just a taxi. It's insane inside, and the ride quality is actually really good. Sure, it’s not as fancy as other EVs, but for a family that needs a reliable workhorse, it’s fairly solid.
Can the BYD e6's massive battery compensate for its brick like aerodynamics?
02 January 2025 06:35
It's a trade-off, for sure. Just remember: Aerodynamics only matter at high speeds. The brick shape is less of an issue for city driving, which is what most people do. And that shape offers you a ton of interior space, too.
