Is the BYD Seal’s value proposition worth overlooking issues of brand recognition and resale value?
With a package of performance, range, and features that rivals established competitors, the BYD Seal offers it all at a price point that undercuts many of the established competitors. But with a relatively unknown brand in BYD, compared to traditional automakers or even EV leaders such as Tesla, it is still relatively unknown in many markets. As such, there has been much debate about whether the value proposition of the Seal is strong enough to trump worries about brand recognition, dealer network support, and resale value. On the one hand, some think the car speaks for itself and that BYD's growing reputation will mean good resale value, while on the other hand, there are worries about being early adopters of a less established brand. It often discusses things like long term reliability, availability of spare parts, and rate of development of EV technology.
The value is insane. When I'm getting this much car for the money, I couldn't care less about the badge.
