Is the Sealion 7's interior quality worth the Sealion 7's premium price tag?
Interior quality and design are important to many car buyers, in particular in the premium segment, in which the BYD Sealion 7 operates. BYD, a relatively new player in the global automotive market, is being judged on whether its interiors can hold up against the established luxury brands. Sealion 7 is a modern tech focused interior with a central rotating display and ambient lighting. Opinions are divided on the materials employed, build quality and general design aesthetic. There's some applause for the design of the e270K's comfortable seating and innovative layout and some questioning of the durability of certain touchpoints and the feel of others. The debate continues on the interior versus similarly priced competitors from both traditional luxury brands as well as other EV brands. The interior experience is comprised of things like sound insulation, seat comfort on long journeys, and the intuitive nature of the infotainment system.
Initially I was skeptical when it comes to the Sealion 7, but the interior of it really impressed me. The materials are high quality and that rotating screen is a game changer for usability.
It's nice, but not at Audi or Mercedes level. Still some hard plastics where you wouldn’t expect to see them at this price point.
It’s a fantastic design, very futuristic. I’m worried about long term durability though, and with all the touch sensitive controls.
The Sealion 7’s interior feels much more premium coming from a Tesla. The physical buttons for climate control are wonderful and there’s a massive difference in build quality.
It's a mixed bag. Front seats are very comfortable, but rear bench gets a bit flatter for long trips.
It's cool ambient lighting but it feels a bit gimmicky. I would rather they spent that money on better sound insulation.
If you've test driven a lot of EVs like me, the Sealion 7's interior is definitely competitive for its price range. It's not top of the class, but it’s certainly not disappointing.
