USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Yamaha NIKEN GT is a unique and intriguing addition to the sports touring segment, and my experience with it has been nothing short of impressive. The updates for 2023 have significantly enhanced its appeal, particularly with the new MT-09-derived engine that offers more torque and a sweeter sound. The refined handling and improved rear suspension make the ride more controlled and predictable, allowing you to push the bike harder without compromising stability. The Leaning Multi Wheel (LMW) front end continues to impress with its exceptional grip and stability, making cornering a confidence-inspiring experience. However, the heavier steering and limited ground clearance might be drawbacks for some riders. Despite these, the NIKEN GTs premium features, including a 7-inch TFT dash, cruise control, and quick-shifter, make it a compelling choice for those seeking a blend of performance, comfort, and unique technology.
Price
The 2024 Yamaha NIKEN GT is expected to be priced around Rs 15 lakh in India on an ex-showroom basis. When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other taxes, the price can escalate to around Rs 17-18 lakh, depending on the state and local regulations. While this is certainly on the higher side, the NIKEN GT justifies its price with its advanced technology, improved performance, and premium build quality. For riders who value the unique benefits of the LMW front end and the enhanced touring capabilities, the cost may be well worth it. However, its important to consider that there are other conventional sports tourers available in the market at similar or lower prices, which might sway some buyers.
Latest Updates
Thursday, 29 August 2024 01:58 PM The 2024 Yamaha Niken GT has been unveiled, featuring a unique three-wheel design that enhances stability and cornering grip, especially on uneven terrain. This model is powered by an 847cc inline-3 engine known for its linear power delivery and punchy performance. The bike also includes advanced suspension, multiple riding modes, and a TFT display. I believe this combination makes the Niken GT an excellent choice for both city rides and highway cruises.
Friday, 30 August 2024 01:03 AM Yamaha has refined the aesthetics of the Niken GT, with an aggressive yet sleek design focused on rider comfort. The 2024 model includes heated grips, a comfortable seat, and ample luggage capacity, making it ideal for long-distance touring. The dual front wheels significantly enhance stability, particularly in wet or slippery conditions. I think these features make the Niken GT one of the safest and most comfortable touring motorcycles available.
Tuesday, 11 January 2022 01:43 PM There has been speculation about the production status of the Yamaha Niken, with some reports suggesting that production may have ceased after the 2022 model year. However, no official announcement has been made by Yamaha. In Europe, 2022 Nikens are still being sold, though its unclear if these are leftover models or part of a final production batch. I believe clarity on this would be welcome for fans of the Niken series.
Friday, 09 November 2018 10:44 PM The Yamaha Niken GT boasts a range of advanced technologies, including Yamahas ride-by-wire throttle system, adjustable throttle mapping, traction control, and ABS. It also features a factory quick shifter and integrated cruise control. These technologies enhance rider confidence and performance. I think these features make the Niken GT a standout in terms of innovation and rider experience.
Friday, 09 November 2018 09:40 PM The Niken GTs revolutionary Leaning Multi-Wheel (LMW) chassis provides unparalleled rider confidence across various road conditions. The dual front wheels offer higher grip, cornering confidence, and improved road manners while maintaining natural steering feel. I believe this unique chassis design sets the Niken GT apart from other motorcycles on the market.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 04:13 AM In terms of mileage, the Yamaha NIKEN GT is relatively efficient given its performance-oriented nature. Yamaha quotes a fuel economy of 5.8 liters per 100 kilometers, which translates to about 49 miles per gallon (mpg) in UK standards. In real-world conditions, you can expect to achieve around 45 mpg, especially if youre riding spiritedly. With an 18-liter fuel tank, this means you can cover approximately 150-160 miles before needing to refuel. For steady solo riding, the mileage can exceed 50 mpg, making it a viable option for long-distance touring. While a larger fuel tank would be beneficial for extending the distance between fuel stops, the current capacity is manageable for most touring needs. I have been hearing whispers about the NIKEN MXT850 for a while now. I am eager to see it in action, I am also being patient. Yamaha usually delivers quality bikes, so I am expecting the MXT850 to be worth the wait. Let's see how it performs once it's officially released!

Riding a Yamaha Niken is a strange sensation and it does take some getting used to. The front end with its extra wheel feels like it glides into bends and once you start to trust the sensation it is remarkable just how much confidence it gives you, especially in changeable conditions.

The best motorcycle I have ever owned. I have been riding motorcycles for 30 years and I have never had a bike that is so stable and planted on the road. It has a lot of presence on the road and is one of the comfiest bikes I have ever ridden.
