Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R SE
General information and overview
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is a track-ready litre-class superbike that excels in both performance and design. Powered by a 998cc inline-four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, it delivers 200bhp at 13,200rpm and 114.9Nm of torque at 11,400rpm. The bike features a six-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quickshifter, multiple riding modes, and advanced electronics including dual-channel ABS, cruise control, launch control, and traction control. The design is sharp and race-track-ready, inspired by the Ninja H2, with a muscular bodywork, split LED headlight setup, and a pointed tail section. The suspension includes Showa BFF forks and a Showa BFRC rear monoshock, while braking is handled by dual 330mm front discs and a single 220mm rear disc. With its Bluetooth-enabled TFT console and smartphone connectivity, the ZX-10R is a modern and formidable machine that is perfect for experienced riders seeking top-tier performance.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is a powerhouse of a motorcycle that is tailored for the most discerning and experienced riders. With its 998cc inline-four-cylinder engine producing 200bhp at 13,200rpm (and up to 210bhp with RAM air intake), this bike is a missile on wheels. The riding experience is exhilarating, thanks to its seamless quickshifter, multiple riding modes, and advanced electronics that include traction control, ABS, and engine brake control. However, its not for the faint of heart the aggressive riding position and stiff suspension make it less comfortable for long rides. For track enthusiasts and those who crave high-performance, the ZX-10R is a dream come true, but it demands respect and skill from its rider.
Recent news and announcements
There has been no official announcement from Kawasaki regarding the launch of the Ninja ZX-10R SE in the Indian market. This has left many enthusiasts wondering if this high-performance bike will ever make its way to Indian roads. I think the lack of an official statement is disappointing, given the bikes impressive specs and features.
The 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R SE, available globally, comes with a 998cc DOHC inline-four engine, featuring advanced electronics including a five-axis IMU, up/down quickshifter, and multiple ride modes. The bike also boasts a full-color 4.3-inch TFT dash with Bluetooth connectivity. I believe these features make it a top contender in the supersport segment.
The 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R SE is priced at $30,499 in the US market, making it one of the more expensive options in its class. This pricing has sparked speculation about how it might be priced if it were to be launched in India, with estimates suggesting it could be around Rs. 30-35 lakhs. I think the price would be a significant barrier for many potential buyers in India.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R SE features a redesigned fairing with integrated downforce winglets and a taller windscreen, along with ergonomic changes to the handlebars and footpegs for a more aggressive riding position. These updates are aimed at enhancing both performance and rider comfort. I believe these design changes would be highly appreciated by Indian riders who value both speed and comfort.
The 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R SE has seen significant engine updates, including shorter transmission ratios, a more aggressive intake cam, and lighter pistons with DLC skirt coating. These changes have improved the bikes performance, especially in the higher RPM range. I think these updates would make the bike a favorite among Indian track enthusiasts.
Pricing details and changes
In India, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is priced competitively, making it one of the most affordable litre-class sportbikes available. The ex-showroom price for the ZX-10R typically hovers around 15-16 lakh, depending on the region and any additional features or editions. On-road prices, including taxes, registration, and other costs, can range from 18-20 lakh. This pricing makes it an attractive option for those seeking a high-performance bike without the hefty price tag of some of its European counterparts like the Ducati Panigale V4 or BMW S 1000 RR.
Fuel efficiency information
The mileage of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is not its strongest suit, given its high-performance nature. With a claimed mileage of 15.5 kmpl, real-world figures can vary based on riding conditions and style. In city traffic, you might see slightly lower numbers, while highway riding could yield closer to the claimed figure. However, for a bike of this caliber, mileage is often a secondary concern to performance and handling. If youre looking for efficiency, this might not be the best choice, but for sheer power and exhilaration, the trade-off is well worth it. - Vehicle Overview
- Kawasaki ZX-10R SE was recently unveiled at EICMA 2017. The motorcycle stays mostly the same, except for its semi active electronic damping KECS (Kawasaki Electronic Control Suspension), dual side quickshifter and forged Marchesini racing lightweight wheels. It can be bought in just Metallic Flat Spark Black/Metallic Matte Graphite Gray shade. Kawasaki will place the same in between the R and RR variant. Improvements in braking, control and acceleration are minimal but still visible on the track. Kawasaki will soon bring other EICMA models like Ninja H2SX and others to India as they nearly offer a huge part of their international lineup in the country.
