Quick Review by Maxabout Team

Indian market has a lot of motorcycle brands competing to have the total dominion. But since now, there are only a couple of names that gave any respectable and praise worthy job. One among these names is Hero MotoCorp which in the last century has revolutionized the Indian motorcycle market. If we look at the past years, Hero MotoCorp has seen some big changes, first comes their breakup with Japanese major, Honda and then their partnership with USA's Erik Buell Racing (EBR) and their recent ties with Austria's company AVL and Italy's company Engine Engineering.

So, after getting its pace slowed down by its breakup, the company is now riding to make the things right and to finish their long withheld projects. Among one of these projects, is to launch restyled versions of Hero's various famous bikes which people will like to see with advancing technology as the world advances. Recently, Hero MotoCorp showcased 15 restyled products at a press conference in Gurgaon on October 10, 2013. The new Hero Karizma R was also among them and particularly attracted a lot of buzz as it hadn't seen many changes since its arrival in Indian market in 2007.

Design and Style

New Hero Karizma R comes with some new features which are worth mentioning like a new clip-on handlebar, dual round headlights with clear lens indicators, rear view mirrors mounted on front cowl, front fender giving a muscular feeling, LED brake light, bulb winker, a new sporty belly pan, stylish graphics on its body, a slightly raised tail section, 18-inch alloy wheels with wider tires, new front and side fairing, classic tail light with clear blinkers and sporty seating. The 223cc engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Acceleration and Performance

The Karizma R can accelerate from 0-60 in just 3.80 seconds. The commuter offers an average mileage of 40 kmpl on highways that reduces to 30 kmpl on the city roads. The Karizma R surprises everybody with its stunning performance on road and can reach a top speed of 126 kmph.

Brakes and Suspension

It has 276mm non-asbestos type disc brake at front and 130mm internal expanding shoe type (non-asbestos type) disc brakes at rear. The suspension system at front consists of telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers and swing arm with adjustable type hydraulic shock absorber at rear.

Tyre Size

2015 Hero Karizma R has tyre size of 80/100 18-inch on the front while 120/80 18-inch is placed at the rear end. Both the wheels come equipped with black alloys.

Bought it in April 2015. I have changed many important parts that do not even need a replacement in bikes older than 10 years. Some have even been replaced for 3 times in these years.

Best Features: Nothing is best

Pros: I was hooked to those looks.

Cons: fuel pump, bad fuel injector, worst part availability.
