Ducati Monster 795 Review
Quick Review by Maxabout Team
Monster has been one of the largest selling products of Ducati worldwide. Monster 795 is an entry level naked machine which is quite popular in our Indian bike market. Let’s get in to the detailing of this machine.
Design and Style
Ducati Monster 795 is a low stance macho bike which borrows most of the styling cues from its younger sibling. The bike has a low positioned triple circular headlight which features pointed clear lens indicators on its both sides. To enhance the naked appearance of this bike, Ducati has not placed any type of visor and cowl on this bike. The rear view mirrors and handle bar are also compact in size. Monster 795 sports a small front fender which partly covers its front tyre and gets extended along its beefy forks. Its black colored alloy wheels add sporty appeal to this bike. It’s exposed steel trellis frame and muscular fuel tank gives the typical Ducati look to this bike. This fuel tank has deep cuts on it which looks aerodynamic on this bike. It’s up raised fatty silencer features an elongated black colored heat shield on it which gels well with its seat. At the end of this seat, it features a small LED tail light which gets supported by side indicators on both sides. The bike has a compressed rear fender which enhances the look of this bike when seen from the back. The rear tyre is not as broad as you want but it’s wide enough to give this bike a macho look.
Instrument Console
Ducati Monster 795 has a fully digital instrument console. There are twin LCDs in its dashboard which uses blue back lit for illumination. Other essential LED indicators can also be seen in this dashboard. The bike has a digital speedometer, odometer, 2-trip- meter and fuel gauge. It also provides other information like distance to empty, service reminder, lap time etc.
Engine and Gearbox
This new age monster is powered by L-twin cylinder 803cc engine. It’s an air-cooled engine which pumps out a power output of 87 bhp at 8250 rpm. This engine has a maximum torque output of 78 nm which arrives as early as 6250 rpm. This bike is equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox which has one gear down and five gears up-shift pattern.
Acceleration and Performance
Monster models are known for their power packed performance and Monster 795 is no different. The bike offers an impressive performance thanks to its low weight and responsive engine. It has an awesome power to weight ratio as it only weighs around 167 kgs and it’s quite evident in its performance. It never hesitates while you open its throttle instead it reacts quite fast and pleases you with its linear power delivery. The torque arrives early in this engine which helps this bike to get momentum easily. The six-speed gearbox is perfectly tuned and responses as per rider’s need. You don’t have to worry about the refinement level of this engine either. Its sounds pretty relaxed and refined at high rpms. The bike offers a superb mid-range which is best experienced on highways. The well matched gear ratios help this bike to get adequate amount of power from this engine. The bike avoids frequent gear transitions which gives you stress free rides in city traffic. It can complete 0-100 km/hr in less than 5 seconds. It can even hit the top speed of 170 km/hr in its top gear.
Mileage
Thanks to its light weight and tall gear ratios, the Monster 795 manages respectable fuel economy. It can give you an overall fuel economy of around 18-20km/ltr.
Comfort While Driving
Undoubtedly, Monster 795 is a very comfortable bike. From its seat to its well positioned handle bar; everything seems quite perfect. Ducati has stuffed this seat with high quality of fabrics which provides you good comfort on long journeys. The low positioned seat and handle bar is like a boon for short riders. The knees fold quite easily around the chunky fuel tank which confirms you a firm grip over this bike. The rear set foot-pegs helps you to bend forward which enhances the aerodynamics of this bike.
Storage Space and Safety Features
Ducati Monster 795 lacks storage space but it features a powerful headlight for your safety. The strong beam of this headlight offers you clear vision of roads at night.
Suspension and Brakes
Ducati Monster 795 has adjustable front telescopic forks of 43mm while it features double side swing arms with Sachs monoshock absorber at the back. Both wheels of this bike are fitted with powerful disc brakes. At front, this bike has twin disc brakes of 320mm with radial mounted 4-piston calliper. The bike is equipped with a rear disc brake of 245mm with 2-piston calliper.
Ride and Handling
Ducati Monster 795 is quite impressive in terms of ride and handling. It’s a light machine which can be handled easily. It steers easily through city traffic and offers confident handling on highways as well. It stays firm and grounded at high speeds thanks to its suspension system which adjusts itself brilliantly. It has the ability to perform off road, thanks to the superior road grip offered by its broad tyres and high ground clearance (167 mm). It has a wheelbase of 1450 mm which gives this bike a stable run around corners and at highways. The bike only starts to loose contact with road after the speed of 150 km/hr. Despite this, you can control this machine easily with the help of its efficient braking system. The bike offers precise barking.
Tyre Size, Shades and Variants
Ducati Monster 795 has 17 inches alloy wheels. It’s available in one variant and three shades.
Verdict
Ducati has launched Monster 795 with an attractive price tag of INR 6.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi (approx., may vary)). At this price, Ducati is trying to get the attention of one of the most populated bike markets in the world. Indians will be more than happy to taste a Ducati bike at this price. User Reviews for Ducati Monster (2016)
The Real Monster
Ducati is a specifically known for creating and manufacturing of sports bikes. Since 1950 they introduced amazing sports bikes with powerful engines. I owned Ducati's Red color monster 795 a year ago. It is an amazing sports bike that everyone wants. It is one the most affordable Ducati on sale today. It has all high-end features. But, there are some drawbacks also like anti-lock braking system is absent there in this bike but you can get it on request. Apart from that Ducati has limited sales and service outlets which is again a problem. It accelerates so quickly, I have to make a conscious effort to stay in tune with the speeds. No, doubt it is really a monster and when, I ride this bike it makes me more and more happier.
Best Features: Efficient Braking System
Pros: Excellent overall dynamics, Good Build Quality, Steel braided brakes, Value For Money
Cons: No Fuel Meter, Slightly Vibrations, Limited Sales & Service Stations
