Latest Updates
Friday, 08 September 2023 10:09 AM

Bajaj has launched the Dominar 400 and Dominar 250 in Malaysia under the Modenas branding at the 2023 Malaysia Autoshow.

Tuesday, 10 September 2024 06:52 AM Bajaj Auto is planning to launch the next-gen Dominar 400 in 2025, positioning it as a premium offering. The new model will likely feature a new platform, cosmetic updates, and robust features such as a digital TFT instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, and turn-by-turn navigation. This move aims to target the niche created by Royal Enfields 650cc bikes. I think this could be a game-changer for Bajaj, especially if they manage to reduce the bikes weight and enhance its cruising capabilities.
Thursday, 27 June 2024 06:57 PM The upcoming Bajaj Dominar 400 is expected to retain its 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, producing 39.5 bhp and 35 Nm of torque, but will be paired with advanced features like ride-by-wire throttle, multiple ride modes, and switchable traction control. The bike will also get new alloy wheels and possibly a box-type swingarm to reduce weight. I believe these updates will make the Dominar 400 a more appealing option for long-distance riders.
Wednesday, 26 June 2024 11:16 AM Bajajs Executive Director, Rakesh Sharma, has hinted that the new Dominar 400 will be elevated to a premium segment, making it less accessible to a wider audience. The Pulsar NS400Z will fill the gap for customers looking for a performance-oriented bike at a reasonable price. The new Dominar 400 is expected to feature ABS modes, cruise control, and enhanced safety features. I think this strategic move could help Bajaj tap into a more lucrative market segment.
Wednesday, 08 May 2024 02:33 PM The updated Bajaj Dominar 400 and Dominar 250 are set to launch in 2025, with the Dominar 400 expected to see significant upgrades including smartphone connectivity, a new TFT instrument console, and basic cruise control. The bike will also retain features like 43 mm USD forks and Nitrox monoshock suspension. I believe these updates will make the Dominar more competitive in the market.
Wednesday, 08 May 2024 10:31 AM Bajaj Auto is focusing on reducing the weight of the new-gen Dominar 400 by using new alloy wheels and possibly a box-type swingarm instead of the current cast-aluminium unit. The bike will continue to use the same 373cc engine but with enhanced features like a fully-digital instrument cluster and multiple ride modes. I think these changes will improve the bikes overall performance and appeal.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Review

Detailed Review by Maxabout Team

Overview

The BS6-compliant Bajaj Dominar 400 was launched in India back in April 2020 with a price tag of Rs 1.92 lakh. Recently, Bajaj Auto updated the motorcycle again and it is now available with factory-fitted accessories at an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 2.25 lakhs. Here are the complete details about the 2024 Bajaj Dominar 400.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Design & Style

While looking at the 2024 model of the Dominar 400, one can notice the updates to the bike are largely cosmetic, with the majority of them consisting of a touring package. It includes a standard tall visor, engine bash plate, handguards, luggage carrier and backrest, leg guard, navigation stay, saddle stays and USB charging slot. The standard tall visor is for the extra protection of the rider from the wind blast. Also, for further impact protection, the Dominar 400 has a standard engine bash plate with an integrated metal skid plate.

In terms of appearance, the 2024 Bajaj Dominar 400 gets a bigger windscreen at the front and the knuckle guards. The rubber mounts on the front number plate holder are of higher quality than previously, which should decrease vibrations. A smartphone mounting point is located behind the windscreen, which is also a popular addition that many current Dominar owners have chosen. A steel bash plate has also been installed to protect the underbelly when traveling on poor roads or off-road terrain. Also, the crash guard is more secure after the required changes.

All the features are offered to make the riding more comfortable. The leg guard is there to provide extra crash protection, while the cast aluminium navigation stay helps the bike riders attach a navigation device and is positioned so well that it doesn’t block the road view.

Some of the notable features of the 2024 Bajaj Dominar 400 include a complete LED headlight with an automatic headlamp on (AHO), position lamp, low beam, and high beam settings. These enable the bike to efficiently handle a variety of riding situations. Bungee straps are also included, which improves the bike’s touring possibilities. The bike features a comfortable, upright riding position and broad handlebars, making it ideal for touring.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Engine & Gearbox

The 2024 model of the Bajaj Dominar 400 comes powered with a 373.3cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that is BS6-compliant. It churns out 40HP of maximum power at 8,800 rpm along with a peak torque of 35Nm at 6,500 rpm. The engine of the motorcycle comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. There is no change in the power and torque figure of the motorcycle when compared to its BS4 counterpart which is certainly a remarkable thing. Though its peak power now comes at 150 rpm higher.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Instrument Console

The instrument console on the New Bajaj Dominar 400 also remains unchanged. It comes with a dual instrument console. The mini-secondary instrument console is placed on the tank of the bike. This layout of the console is similar to the CS400 concept showcased by the brand at last year’s Auto Expo. There is one con of the mini instrument cluster that whenever you have to take a look at it you have to take your eyes off the road which is something that we can consider unsafe.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Dimensions, Mileage & Top Speed

The 2024 BS6-compliant Bajaj Dominar 400 measures 2156mm in length, 863mm in width, and 1243mm in height. The ground clearance of the motorcycle stands at 157mm. It has a wheelbase of 1453mm. Talking about the mileage of the motorcycle it lies between 30-35 kmpl (approximately). This sports cruiser motorcycle can reach a top speed of up to 165kmph. The accessory-loaded 2024 model has a kerb weight of 193kgs which is 11kgs heavier than its BS4 variant.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Brakes & Suspension

The latest model of the Bajaj Dominar 400 carries the same suspension setup as its BS4 model. The bike has 43mm UpSide Down forks at the front while its rear features a mono-shock unit. It rides on the beam type parameter frame. The bike has a better steering feel and its handling is also quite good. The wheels of the motorcycle are in black colour. The stopping power of the bike comes from radially mounted brake callipers. It has a 320mm disc at the front and 230mm single disc at its rear. It comes paired to a 2-channel ABS unit as standard. It has the same MRF radial tyres at the front and at the back as in the BS4-compliant version.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Colours & Graphics

Talking about the colours, the 2024 Bajaj Dominar 400 is available in 2 colours: Aurora Green and Charcoal Black. One of the best things about the Dominar 400 is that it has no graphics and Bajaj Auto has offered it a very neat look, making it the best-looking motorcycle in its class.

Verdict and Competitors of Bajaj Dominar 400

The New 2024 Bajaj Dominar 400 is quite distinctive among its segment. The light slipper clutch of the motorcycle will allow you to do faster downshifts without any risk of rear-wheel locking. The seating ergonomics for the bike are perfectly sorted out. It is a versatile motorcycle that one can use for daily commutes as well as take it out for weekend rides. It is heavily inspired by the popular Ducati Diavel and Bajaj Auto has done a commendable job by providing it with loads of equipment to make the best out of it. Bajaj Dominar 400 rivals KTM Duke 390 and the TVS Apache RR 310 in the Indian market.

Road presence is amazing

Barun Kumar | 2 years ago

Believe me, owning this bike for the past year has been a great experience. The road presence is amazing and it really catches the attention of people on the road. Initially, it might feel a bit heavy if you're upgrading from a low cc bike, but once you get used to it, you won't feel that anymore.

Talking about the pros, people will definitely notice you when you ride this bike. The stability it provides is unparalleled and the mileage is quite good. It can give you anywhere between 25-30 kmpl depending upon your driving style. It also comes with riding accessories which make it very helpful. Plus, its budget-friendly and has a tough body as per Indian terrains. Maintenance is also quite low for a 400cc bike. It has great power as the 400cc engine provides 40bhp, which is very good in this price range.

The only cons I noticed with this bike are its suspension and brakes. The suspension can be a bit stiff at times, especially on long stretches. Brakes could also be better, even though it comes with dual channel ABS. It doesn't give you much confidence as compared to its rivals like KTM/BMW. Also, it's not so good for people with short height. So, if you're around 5.6 feet, then you'll be able to handle it quite easily. Lastly, even though Bajaj's service network is good, their service quality isn't

Very smooth and just glides in traffic

Rishi Sethi | 2 years ago

The driving experience of the Dominar 400 is very smooth and just glides in traffic and on the highway. It is also very comfortable for long rides, and I myself have taken rides of 150+ km without any issues. The mileage of the bike is low in traffic, but can go up to 30+ km per litre on the highway.

The additional benefit of the new version of the bike is the back rest, which makes the pillion very comfortable for long rides. There is no jerk or stalling while changing gears. The additional fitting for adding carrier adds value to the bike. There is some vibration at speeds above 120 km/h, but the features are less than its competition.

The after sale service is good, but the people in the service center do not always listen to the requirements of the customer. The parts are not always available in the service center and can take up to two months to arrive.

In conclusion, the bike is a super hit and has almost everything a touring bike would need, making it a great buy for touring lovers. If the parts and accessories were available in a timely manner, it would get a 10/10 rating. With the current specifications and parts availability, I would rate it 7/10.

Bajaj Dominar is all about domination

Prabhanjan - | 3 years ago

Dominar satisfies the buyer mainly because of its comfort, then comes the rest. Main thing to note is that power and torque match is excellent. Then comes the mosaic styled headlights. Its touring ability and stress less drive mainly due to smoother gear shifts and slipper clutch is a boon in curving and heavy traffic. As everyone know we look more or consider negatives than positives to know the worth of a vehicle, the main negative is lack of gear indicator which indicates which gear you are in.I think it should be a must in 6 speed bikes. Mileage is not a big negative but its not good too and same about the looks. But the view from the rear gives you huge disappointment. But due to its price point and overall riding experience all its negative is neglected.

Best Features: Slipper clutch

Pros: comfort, due to slipper clutch, value for money, touring capability

Cons: mileage, due to huge variations between highway and city

Here it is! No Match for Dominar 400 at its price!

Rajdeep Singh | 4 years ago

Bajaj Dominar 400 is more like a hope for those who wish to enter the big bike segment and its clean INR 1.36 lakh price makes it easy for many, who were considering a 150 cc before, to enter the league. The introduction of LED lights, powerful 373 cc engine and ABS at such point is the best thing Bajaj Auto could have done in last few years. Dominar 400 has the best instrument console that Bajaj can offer currently and it even claims a better efficiency than the same engine which powers the KTM models. The 35 Nm of torque at just 6500 rpm means it it nothing less than a Royal Enfield and can pull anything with the same ease. The higher power means it can claim speed around 150 kmph while company just claims 148 kmph. It weighs 182 kg, which seems to much for a Bajaj bike as Pulsar have never been more than the 165 kg RS200. All in all, it can easily beat anything around its price segment

Best Features: Stuffed seats, LED lights, excessive torque

Pros: Price, engine, LED lights, stance

Cons: Excessive black parts, a bit of rear design, commuter style front view, high weight
