On the other hand, the On-Road Price is the actual cost you pay to the dealership to make the vehicle legal to run on the roads. It includes Ex-Showroom Price in your city + RTO Charges (Vehicle Registration) + One Time Road Tax + Insurance Charges. The On-Road Price also includes some optional things like if you opt for Genuine Accessories and Extended Warranty while buying a vehicle. Please note that the On-Road Price varies a lot across different states in India due to different percentage for the State Registration Charges. |
Bajaj Dominar 400 Review
Detailed Review by Maxabout Team
Overview
The BS6-compliant Bajaj Dominar 400 was launched in India back in April 2020 with a price tag of Rs 1.92 lakh. Recently, Bajaj Auto updated the motorcycle again and it is now available with factory-fitted accessories at an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 2.12 lakhs. Here are the complete details about the 2022 Bajaj Dominar 400.
Bajaj Dominar 400 Design & Style
While looking at the 2022 model of the Dominar 400, one can notice the updates to the bike are largely cosmetic, with the majority of them consisting of a touring package. It includes a standard tall visor, engine bash plate, handguards, luggage carrier and backrest, leg guard, navigation stay, saddle stays and USB charging slot. The standard tall visor is for the extra protection of the rider from the wind blast. Also, for further impact protection, the Dominar 400 has a standard engine bash plate with an integrated metal skid plate.
In terms of appearance, the 2022 Bajaj Dominar 400 gets a bigger windscreen at the front and the knuckle guards. The rubber mounts on the front number plate holder are of higher quality than previously, which should decrease vibrations. A smartphone mounting point is located behind the windscreen, which is also a popular addition that many current Dominar owners have chosen. A steel bash plate has also been installed to protect the underbelly when traveling on poor roads or off-road terrain. Also, the crash guard is more secure after the required changes.
All the features are offered to make the riding more comfortable. The leg guard is there to provide extra crash protection, while the cast aluminium navigation stay helps the bike riders attach a navigation device and is positioned so well that it doesn’t block the road view.
Some of the notable features of the 2022 Bajaj Dominar 400 include a complete LED headlight with an automatic headlamp on (AHO), position lamp, low beam, and high beam settings. These enable the bike to efficiently handle a variety of riding situations. Bungee straps are also included, which improves the bike’s touring possibilities. The bike features a comfortable, upright riding position and broad handlebars, making it ideal for touring.
Bajaj Dominar 400 Engine & Gearbox
The 2022 model of the Bajaj Dominar 400 comes powered with a 373.3cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that is BS6-compliant. It churns out 40HP of maximum power at 8,800 rpm along with a peak torque of 35Nm at 6,500 rpm. The engine of the motorcycle comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. There is no change in the power and torque figure of the motorcycle when compared to its BS4 counterpart which is certainly a remarkable thing. Though its peak power now comes at 150 rpm higher.
Bajaj Dominar 400 Instrument Console
The instrument console on the 2022 Bajaj Dominar 400 also remains unchanged. It comes with a dual instrument console. The mini-secondary instrument console is placed on the tank of the bike. This layout of the console is similar to the CS400 concept showcased by the brand at last year’s Auto Expo. There is one con of the mini instrument cluster that whenever you have to take a look at it you have to take your eyes off the road which is something that we can consider unsafe.
Bajaj Dominar 400 Dimensions, Mileage & Top Speed
The 2022 BS6-compliant Bajaj Dominar 400 measures 2156mm in length, 863mm in width, and 1243mm in height. The ground clearance of the motorcycle stands at 157mm. It has a wheelbase of 1453mm. Talking about the mileage of the motorcycle it lies between 30-35 kmpl (approximately). This sports cruiser motorcycle can reach a top speed of up to 165kmph. The accessory-loaded 2022 model has a kerb weight of 193kgs which is 11kgs heavier than its BS4 variant.
Bajaj Dominar 400 Brakes & Suspension
The BS6-compliant model of the Bajaj Dominar 400 carries the same suspension setup as its BS4 model. The bike has 43mm UpSide Down forks at the front while its rear features a mono-shock unit. It rides on the beam type parameter frame. The bike has a better steering feel and its handling is also quite good. The wheels of the motorcycle are in black colour. The stopping power of the bike comes from radially mounted brake callipers. It has a 320mm disc at the front and 230mm single disc at its rear. It comes paired to a 2-channel ABS unit as standard. It has the same MRF radial tyres at the front and at the back as in the BS4-compliant version.
Bajaj Dominar 400 Colours & Graphics
Talking about the colours, the 2022 Bajaj Dominar 400 is available in 2 colours: Aurora Green and Charcoal Black. One of the best things about the Dominar 400 is that it has no graphics and Bajaj Auto has offered it a very neat look, making it the best-looking motorcycle in its class.
Verdict and Competitors of Bajaj Dominar 400
The BS6-compliant 2022 Bajaj Dominar 400 is quite distinctive among its segment. The light slipper clutch of the motorcycle will allow you to do faster downshifts without any risk of rear-wheel locking. The seating ergonomics for the bike are perfectly sorted out. It is a versatile motorcycle that one can use for daily commutes as well as take it out for weekend rides. It is heavily inspired by the popular Ducati Diavel and Bajaj Auto has done a commendable job by providing it with loads of equipment to make the best out of it. Bajaj Dominar 400 rivals KTM Duke 390 and the TVS Apache RR 310 in the Indian market.
