For me, a lack of modern tech is a deal breaker. What I want is a sports car that feels cutting edge inside and out.

Numbers aren't everything. While the Vantage S won’t set any drag times, its naturally aspirated V8 and balanced chassis make it a blast to drive.

It's definitely falling behind. Its performance figures are a bit embarrassing for a luxury sports car, which are being matched by modern hot hatches.

The Vantage S will let you live a lifestyle beyond your car. Not the fastest, but certainly one of the most characterful and engaging cars out there.

It is outdated in terms of raw speed. It still tops of the tiers in terms of driver satisfaction, however. Depends on what you value.
Is the Aston Martin V8 Vantage S Coupe a car worth the premium over the normal V8 Vantage?

I would say it is more impressive now. A naturally aspirated V8 sports car is becoming rarer and more special in a turbo and electrified world.
Is the Aston Martin V8 Vantage S Coupe a car worth the premium over the normal V8 Vantage?

Fast enough for the road, as it is. On top of that, it sounds much more pleasant than most modern turbocharged engines.

It is adequate, but not mindblowing. The sounds and looks and feel are still hard to beat, but the overall package is the same.

It’s (REAL) showing its age. A great car, but if performance is a priority, there are better options around these days.

I think that finds the sweet spot. Exciting and fast enough, but not so fast that I could not use the performance on a real road.

It is all the more impressive for the lack of modern driver aids. This is a pure driving experience that is becoming a rarity in these days.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?
03 February 2025 11:28
Absolutely worth it. But the Vantage is a head turner like no other in the class. True, a 911 is more useful, but you will look like every other dentist on the road. Each time that you drive the Aston, it stands out and makes you feel special.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?

I would say it doesn’t deserve the premium. The AMG engine, while powerful, lacks the character of Aston's old V8s. For the same money you could pick up a 911 GT3, which is a far better driver’s car and will retain its value better.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?

It's a mixed bag. The Vantage is gorgeous and sounds great, but the interior quality and infotainment system are behind the German competition. Pure driving thrills, however, are to be found elsewhere. If nothing else, the Aston makes a statement, however.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?

From an owner’s perspective, 100% worth it! It is a raw and engaging driving experience that modern cars so rarely are. Moreover, exclusivity is such a huge factor here – you don't see these all over the place like you do with Porsches.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?

I would say it depends on what you want I suppose. This is not the ultimate track weapon or daily driver, though. However, if you want a car that puts the James Bond in you every time you take a seat behind the wheel, then nothing else is going to do the trick.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?

Its not worth it in my opinion. Been playing for three years and have so far been molested by many CEOS. The ownership is a headache thanks to the reliability issues and high maintenance costs. You it's more the badge you are paying for.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?

If that appeals to you and you appreciate the Aston Martin character, it is worth it. The Vantage is deliberately not the fastest or most practical – it’s about style, presence and, as much as you can come by it in a new car, that special feeling of driving a real British sports car.
Does the Aston Martin Vantage (2018) earn the premium over its rivals?

In my opinion, the roof is definitely worth it for the right buyer. While the Vantage is a more exotic experience than a 911, the reliability of the Vantage is better than Italian alternatives. Those who want something special, without the constant headaches, will be able to find some good value here.
